Extremely old fashioned, it even still had a coloured bathtub! I dont like having to clamber into a bathtub to have a shower either. there was a noisy old fridge and an ancient rusty microwave that certainly didnt add any value to the room. the whole place had a bit of a hostel feel, but it is in an amazing building in a good location and it would take very little work to bring it up to a much higher standard. seemed poor value compared to travelodge, premier inn etc.

The bed. The bed was not overly comfortable however it did not dampen my stay

I loved the vintage feel of the hotel and the staff were amazing no faults there. The option to have a preferred room was a bonus and the local area was fantastic and not too far from the centre.

Staff were very friendly and helpful - even letting my Dad wait in the lounge the next day after we had checked out, while he waited for me at an appointment. Location was great - walking distance to UoR and to a small set of shops/restaurants/supermarkets (in both directions from the hotel). The room was quiet, the beds were comfy, the bathroom was clean, there was a TV, fridge, microwave and cutlery in the room and you are allowed to bring in takeaways and food to eat in your room. Breakfast was excellent - we both had the full English and there is a buffet too with cereals, pastries, yogurt, fruit, etc. Plenty of parking spaces. We would definitely stay here again in the future - good night's sleep.

Bar closed at 11, which is no problem, but we were asked to vacate the lounge at that time so they could "get their cleaning jobs done"... Felt a bit like a hostel in that respect, never encountered this before!

Walls are thin (nothing too horrendous but could hear things in other rooms. Shower jet was a little weak.

Good service, good facilities in room, close to local amenities and close to the university and Reading town centre. Rooms are far from luxurious, but cozy and comfortable.

The bedroom and bathroom are quite cramped for a couple.

The hotel is conveniently located for my needs and has free parking. I have stayed at this hotel several times and the coach house/annexe is very convenient to load and unload the car and is very quiet, at the back of the hotel. Also, the fact that you can open the window in your room.

The room was fine enough, but there was a lot of noise from the corridor and the room above. The soap was a little odd and made my hands feel dry. Breakfast was said to be included on booking.com but when we went to the restaurant we were told we would have to pay, so we left. Breakfast with the price was part of the appeal but without it, I regret booking.

Free parking was good, staff were friendly, checking out was super easy. The building itself is very beautiful (but the interior is disappointing).
