Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThis is nothing more than a working man's pub with rooms which is well overpriced. Every aspect is expensive I had an evening meal of Bevard Steak which I now know is the cheapest cut available being no more than flank, not tender at all. Breakfast at £12 must be the most expensive around and was mediocre at best. Warning, if you have mobility issues there is a steep staircase to manage, no lift nor chair lift.
Not a lot.

TurkeyThe carpet in our room could have been cleaner. After walking with only socks on, a lot of hair and particles stuck to the soles. We could hear loud music from the bar in our room. This is understandable as it was NYE night with live music and lots of people celebrating.
Breakfast was tasty and generous. The service was excellent, the staff were polite and catered to our needs. For a three-star hotel, I'd say the breakfast was outstanding! The room we stayed in was quite spacious and had complimentary espresso pods. We enjoyed spending time in the sitting area, which doubled as the morning breakfast restaurant. The hotel's location is superb, a 5-minute walk to the train station to get to London and equally as close to the town center where there are restaurants, shops, and other amenities.

United KingdomThe was was dirty with very large cobwebs in the corner. They definitely need more breakfast staff give yourself at least an 1 1/2 hours before you need to leave anywhere. It took 50 minutes to get breakfast 1 morning there was only 3 of us down for breakfast at 8am. The next morning went a bit quicker of only 40 minutes and people ended up leaving because of this.
The pub itself was cosy and inviting the gentlemen who checked us in was warm and welcoming and couldn’t help us enough.

United KingdomThere was a power cut and we had no electricity from the time we arrived until shortly before checking out the next morning yet still expected to pay the full fee! Whilst this wasn’t the hotel’s fault we could not even use the sink or shower in our room (runs off the electrics). Not great if you’re a woman trying to do her hair and makeup before going out
We’ve been before and it’s very convenient given the location for our needs. It’s okay as a hotel although a little tired

United KingdomThere was a power cut. We had no electricity and because the taps and shower in our room was electric we also had no water. We had to sit in our room in complete darkness with no way to charge our phones or to even shower after a long day in London. I know this cannot be helped but we did not feel as though staff where prepared for these sort of incidents. I had been told by another customer that there had been precious outages so unsure as to why they did not have plans for if this happened again. The power finally came back on at 4am but the lights woke us up. On checking out I spoke with the hotel receptionist as I asked for some compensation due to the fact we had no facilities all night and no electric and water. I was at first offered a refund of £25, which I disputed as this meant we still paid £90 for a hotel room with no electricity or water. Instead I was offered £35 to which I accepted begrudgingly as I understand this is not the hotels fault. However, I had to ask about getting compensation when actually I think this should have been offered to the customers ideally another night on the house I feel would have been fair. I am really disappointed that I paid £80 for a hotel room with no facilities and actually was not relaxing at all.
The property was clean and comfortable. The location was really good.

United KingdomRoom had a faulty air conditioning unit which had leaked on floor. Towels on floor and a fan to try and dry - didn't work and wasn't happy at all about this. There was an outside door which had been left open to try and get some air in, which only meant there were a load of flies in our room. Really not happy with the cost of this room v what we were given.
Staff were lovely and helpful

United KingdomThere was some construction opposite but that's not the hotels fault.
We stayed for our wedding night. They kindly upgraded us to the superior suite for no extra charge ! We were also given two glasses of prosecco each. The bed was enormous and very comfortable, the air con a life saver in this heatwave. We got breakfast to our room which came very quickly and was hot and delicious. Thank you, red lion hotel!

United KingdomMy room was half done with painters tape missing paint and other odd bits which bothered me a bit due to price I was paying to stay there. I was in room 11, 4/5 flights of stairs no lift but staff helped me to room with my bags. The Vegan option breakfast which I paid extra for breakfast for (showed in bed room menu) they didn’t have.
The property was nice and mostly clean, most of staff friendly and helpful. The Vegan French toast was good. Aircon in room was nice, shower was nice.
