How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Very quiet bar/reception; lacked atmosphere.
Very convenient location for attractions, eating out and station. Room clean and comfortable. Able to leave luggage before and after check-in and check out.

Noisy at night. But I think that is just the way it is. To stay centrally where we were is part of the compromise. Though didn't realise there is a club right under the hotel and a door leading to it!
The hotel and room were great. Massive room. Great bed..huge. very comfortable. Ideal location

I was in bed for 10:30, but unfortunately I could hear the music from the bars and clubs and It was still quite loud and I was on the sixth floor. Overall great value for money in a great location, don't forget to bring your ear plugs. 😉

Room took quite a while, about an hour, to heat up, but once up to temperature it was fine. Could hear a live band playing in a club until late night on a Tuesday. Wifi requires you to agree to marketing emails and texts and retaining your data, with no option to opt out. Not sure this is actually legal under GDPR. I therefore didn’t use the wifi., there’s enough data breaches without having to have risk another one for the sake of wifi access for a night.
Comfortable bed.

I was hit with a £50 room damage deposit in case I damaged the room. This wasn’t advertised and seems to suggest that I could t be trusted not to damage room- it put me off staying here again
It was in a great location and the team were very friendly. Also a good sized room and very comfy bed

The location, I clearly didn’t read the description well enough. I didn’t realise that it was surrounded by bars and night clubs, it was so noisy . I therefore barely got any sleep at all.
The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming . The room was comfortable and clean too.

The only criticism I have is the wardrobe in the middle of the room which made it very awkward to manoeuvre around the room. Also having ask for clean sheets on the bed with the fact there was nothing but the friendly staff sorted out straight away 👍👍
The location was very near to the train station, bonus,!!! breakfast and service really good 👍 All in all very very satisfied with our stay.

The street noise in the night was crazy. Music and live singing coming from 3 different venues. I was traveling with a child. If I'd been there to party would have been fine. Didn't stop to well after midnight (it was a Saturday night), fridge didn't work and mould around Bath

Having booked for a night they asked me to make a deposit of fifty pounds which will be refunded wen am going out of a truth a my life I have never seen any thing of such ,when I did when I was going out the response that came that they will release it and my bank will credit my account very disappointing. I was not told I will be refunded by my bank not the hotel,my counsel, sure policy is not good it scares patronage management should look it and improve.
