How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Room tatty and bathroom taps loose and dripping. Very low cold water pressure. Noise from above with creaking floorboards. Low quality breakfast with bacon and other items clearly left in over on heat waiting for customers too long.
Location friendly helpful receptionist.

It is very old which is fine but definitely could do with a deep clean and spruce-up, the beds were clean and comfy and towels etc but just need a good scrub in the rooms.
Great location in the middle of town and great to have parking available, we were using as a base to visit surrounding attractions at Hever Castle, Penshurst etc and it was a good location with nice restaurants and bars around. Beds were very comfy and no noise!

Bar not open every evening, breakfast very mediocre, how can you run out of ingredients, like baked beans, when you know how many are staying. Sausages cheap and nasty, NOT Cumberland as stated on menu.

Shower pressure very poor and took a long time to get hot. Toilet was also backing up. All reported to reception.

the showers are out of date, no water pressure and need drastic mordernisation, the lighting is also poor. the staff are good but the building facilities are really hopeless.

The shower was very poor and some guests came in at about 4:00 in the morning and work us up.

its an older building and some areas could have done with a touchup but the staff were really friendly and. helpful and we had a good nights sleep.
The room was clean and comfy. Tea and coffee amenities. Good parking and central location. Very short walk to the castle and some nice restaurants.

Room quite dated, one of the switches fell.off in my hand. Looked out on overgrown garden. Room was in an ugly outbuilding which was a bit grubby on the walls along the corridor. No lunch or evening meal available.. Could be really nice if updated a bit.
Friendly staff and could check in lot earlier than stated. Great location and quiet roo. Room was clean and comfortable. Nice toiletries.

It needs updating,the tv switched on but didn’t work. The room could have been neater and tidier. Toothpaste on edge of sink from a previous guest
I’ve always wanted to stay in the hotel out of curiosity. It’s a lovely old building with original features. The staff were friendly and welcoming,very informative and helpful

No restaurant open for an evening meal.
Plenty of Free parking. The rooms are a good size and they are clean. The wifi works well. Breakfast is OK. Its an old coaching inn, Charm or Tired ?

The fact that they wasn’t and haven’t served food for over 2 years and as we arrived about 6 in the evening we then had to go out of the hotel to find somewhere to eat after a long journey

The rooms are shabby and in need of refurbishment. There was a light flickering in my room and the floor was uneven. The mattress was basically collapsed and everything was rather dusty. There was some discolouration in the bath which, if I'm generous, may have been limescale... or it may just have been dirty. Either way, I didn't feel comfortable getting in the bath. There were no plug points near the bed so I had to charge my phone on the other side of the room.
The location is perfect for Tonbridge School and it is the only hotel in walking distance. The staff were very helpful and went to great pains to try to find my necklace when I lost it in my room.

This used to be a premium hotel, sadly it has seen much, much better days. Staff are great, rooms are clean and functional, but it is just sad that it has sunk to such a sad state - guess there just isn’t the money to refurbish

The room was overheated with no way of controlling the heat. Windows over the very very loud heating or ventilation system.
