The hotel is showing its age somewhat - cracks in walls, very creaky floorboards in the corridors, threadbare carpets and bathrooms that need to replaced. However, the location, staff and food made up for it without a doubt!

The beds were comfortable, the room spacious. The sea view was exactly that - no craning your neck out of a window to spy the sea, it was right outside our window! The staff were fantastic throughout - friendly, welcoming and helpful. Food in the restaurant was great as well - both dinner and breakfast were excellent.

The pillow was a bit hard for my liking

The room was such a lovely size and the decor so in keeping with the period of the hotel. It exceeded my expectations - the bed seemed small but perhaps that was because the room was big :) It was quiet, comfortable and extremely relaxing. The staff were friendly and welcoming without being intrusive and over the top - very professional

Turnabout entrance door gives the wrong impression.. windows appeared dirty but were not.

Twin room with sea view. One mattress was replaced immediately when asked for. Restaurant was a delight even though we only ate there twice. A very enjoyable and memorable stay....would love to return......and the sun shone everyday!!!!

i accidentially forgot my jewlery box in the room. When I phoned up to report this they never got back to me, nor did I ever hear from them again... I know it was my fault, but in a hotel like this it should be returned to me and/or a phone call should have been made to me regarding this either way....

the twin bed sea view room was spacious and Gorgoeus. The beds were super comfy, and it was suprisingly quiet, with very little road noise.. we loved it!

Rooms need updating, carpet was clean but tired, and showers hard to get right temperature. Having said that, beds and sofas comfortable and rooms large and clean.

Room clean and spacious. Staff lovely, very nice to my young grandchildren. Beautiful Victorian hotel. Lovely buffet breakfast with good hot and cold choices. Short walk to restaurants, across the road from beach. Lift to floors.

Parking wasn't easy, and an earlier breakfast would have helped

The outsides of ALL the windows were filthy! looked like they havent been cleaned in years. Breakfast just ok, when I arrived at 0915 there were zero cerials on show, the sausages were luke warm, there were 3 fried eggs left that looked congealed, a small amount of luke warm scrambled egg left, however the hash browns were lively hot and crispy. Will eat breakfast in the cafe opposite next time

Minor criticism. The shower could be better. The water didn’t come out of the shower head particularly well and when the shower head is fitted to its stationery position, the angle wasn’t adjustable so it didn’t really hit the body at the right angle. Had to keep using the head whilst holding it.

Typical British seaside hotel. Once clearly a glamorous feature of the seafront, it is now somewhat faded and past its best.

For this price, I don't know what I expected but a falling ceiling, peeling paint, mold in the bathroom, leaky windows, cobwebs. even after telling the staff nothing was done. And lest we forget, watch out for the paws on the bed, they are falling apart

Only one complaint: our ensuite bathroom was down a flight of stairs from the sleeping area. That was unexpected, and hard on painful knees.

A charming older hotel. Superb location on the beachfront. Very spacious rooms with comfortable beds.

Parking. (see above comment regarding mobility) although parking is limited at least one or two disabled bays would be appreciated. (perhaps bookable). Last year when staying at the hotel my daughter in law was unable to arrange for a bottle of champagne to be left in the room for when we arrived. It was our wedding anniversary. Would liked to have been able to order my daily newspaper from the reception and had it left outside the room. although this is a minor point, most hotels that I have visited provide this service. I think the last two above comments would be simple to implement, and would improve customer satisfaction.

We booked an evening meal, which was excellent. (we are both vegetarians). The room was spacious and had a glorious sea view. The chambermaid service was excellent. There was a lift to all floors which helped. (as one of us has mobility issues)

Room seemed not to have been used for some time. Some attention to detail missing eg bin lid broken, kettle had brown water in it.
