How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Room was a little too warm at night. The window opener was not restricted, it was either fully out or closed. There is a very noisy dripping gutter to the left hand corner of the opposite wall and as a result of it having rained meant the window couldn't be left open to cool the room whilst sleeping. Wife is a light sleeper.
Breakfast was great with a varied choice. Staff were very pleasant. Short walk in to the City Centre.

Breakfast was a little under cooked bit other than that it was nice.
It was spotless. The staff were friendly. The room was small but it was spotlessly clean.

The sound insulation between rooms isn't great, but once I was aware it was manageable. The breakfast was average. The scrambled egg had very obviously not been cooked for me and had been sitting under a warmer for some time, very dry and tasteless.
Room was clean and comfortable, and the power-shower was the best I've ever used. Well organised.

Nothing to complain about. Our one night stay exceeded our expectations.
Polite & friendly staff, nice room, very clean, good shower, tea & coffee-making facility in the room, plus a couple of packs of biscuits, convenient location, on-site parking, very nice breakfast included in the very reasonable price, easy express check-out.

It is on a busy road so the traffic was noticeable but not disruptive.
The hotel was very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. It’s a good location to walk to the quayside in Exeter and convenient for train travel.

I got what I paid for so, while I might have liked a larger bathroom, it was fine and there was nothing that I did not like.
It was a comfortable but very small room at the back of the hotel which just fitted my one night stay on a 24 hour trip to Exeter. Tea and coffee was available in the room. The staff were very friendly and helpful, particularly when my initial flight was cancelled and I had to delay my visit. Finally the breakfast was wonderful! It was all freshly cooked and extremely tasty.

The road noise all night . The shower its hard to turn on due to the door in the way . And the water comes out on the floor but is very powerful which was great

The breakfast was very nice, with a good choice of food, served by a waitress on clean white table cloth in a lovely room with a wide bay window. Ample free parking as well, I didn't expect it to be as nice as it was for the very reasonable price.

It was a 20 minute walk from the city centre which was good and breakfast was really good!

Dripping from pipe outside our room (number 1) when it was raining which was quite annoying

Unfortunately the heating in our room was not working so it go a bit chilly in the night. Shower only had the wall mounted hose so it was not possible to take shower without washing your hair (tip: bring the shower cap).
Nice place. not too far from the old town. Free parking which was not busy during our stay. We got a big room which was very convenient for us. Very good breakfast!

Larger breakfasts and tvs. Rooms were abit tight for space. Positioned on a very busy road but that meant it was close to shops.
Breakfast was adequate could of had more choice both of hot and cold food . The satff were lovely. Bedrooms were pleasant but ours was very hot. Parking was very easy.

Our room was very small the view was very disappointing just, roof tops & brick walls
The staff were friendly & when we had a problem with our tv, they sorted the problem out straight away. Convenient location to the town centre. Local bus services are available right outside the hotel, although the service is not very reliable on the return journey back
