Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIt was a truly special hotel and I would highly recommend visiting. We did find the drinks and food prices overly expensive - large glass of wine was £15 which for a standard bottle was a bit expensive. Main restaurant meals were expensive as well, comparable with Michelin star restaurants where we live. However, the setting, staff and the food we did have (the breakfast) were exceptional.
Fantastic hotel, beautiful building, grounds and exceptionally friendly staff. The included breakfast was incredible. The games room in the basement made our evening, pool tables, table football and board games room were a great addition to the hotel. Our room was clean, comfortable and spacious with a great shower.

United KingdomNothing, everything was what we expected and given.
We were upgraded at no additional cost. The staff couldn't do enough for us and our dog. Fantastic grounds, excellent food, great location in a small village, plenty of parking and history. We will be going back in the better weather!

United KingdomThe BP pulse EV charger was more than double the cost of the Supercharger. It also runs past your balance that you pre load into a minus balance so approximately £44 for a £20 charge on a supercharger. Do not use it

I loved every part of The Stanbrook Abbey experience. It was a Surprise for my 50th Birthday. Thank you very much Froddo. We Got a free upgrade which was amazing. The staff were very attentive. The whole Abbey was spotless and beautiful.I loved walking around the whole building. The architecture is something else. We spent some happy times in the bar and enjoyed the food muchly. Loved the curried toffee popcorn. We had free range of the basement games room and enjoyed playing pool. The room was immaculate and tbh I cried. We had a roll top bath which I thoroughly enjoyed with bubbles to the top. The bed was so comfy as soon as my head hit the pillow I was soundo. I would highly recommend staying here if you want to be treated like royalty. The room was the size of the bottom floor of my house. We had the breakfast included which was delicious. Fresh organic ingredients and so filling. ( Full English ) Didn't want to go home.

The room was exceptional with all my requests addressed. The breakfast every day provided all that you could want while the one dinner I had there was again superb. Is it the cheapest? No, of course its not, but at least you do feel that you are getting quality for the amount you are paying. The staff are truly exceptional, friendly and willing to help in any way possible.

United KingdomNothing. There was nothing to dislike! Why go looking for faults in an abbey?
The staff are great, always engaged with a smile. All aspects of dining from breakfast to dinner was a lovely experience. Stanbrook makes for a truly great experience. It's peaceful at night, just when you need it most. The building is exactly what you would expect, stunning architecture, spacious, and provides a comforting feeling and ambience while you are there.

United KingdomThere was an uncomfortable amount of hair in the carpet in the bedroom. Probably noticeable due to the dark purple carpet but it’s something that should be checked in my opinion. There were cobwebs in the lamps and one bedside lamp also did not work.
Grateful for being upgraded to the Abbey suite. Lovely location, the bathroom was faultless and the breakfast was great.

Comfy bed in gascoigne room, lovely view of paddocks & roll top bath & prompt room service. We took 2 large dogs & were provided with 2 large dog beds - 2 sets of raised twin bowls. Dog treats in room & tennis balls by the entrance. The grounds included extensive mowed grass paddocks which were safe for supervised dogs to run in.
