Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomAbsolutely nothing. As a pair of Nordics we thought this would’ve been the perfect location for a lochside Sauna with access steps to the water. This would really be the cherry on the icing on the cake.
Beautiful grounds and a beautiful location. Fantastic staff, the food was lovely even with my irritating dietary requests. We had a small issue with loud and abusive neighbours on one night, this was dealt with firmly and professionally by Michelle and the staff.

United KingdomThe location is a bit out of the way, ~40 mins away from Oban. We used this hotel as a a quick stop off, which was our mistake. I would not recommend this place as just "a bed for the night", but rather for a relaxed few days.
The hotel and grounds are really lovely, overlooking a loch. I appreciated the extra facilities including the chairs and fire pits outside, and the snooker table. Breakfast was filling and tasty. It's a shame we didn't get more time to enjoy the hotel.

United KingdomAbsolutely nothing - both times we have stayed here it has been delightful. We cannot fault a thing.
It was our second time staying at Taychreggan and we loved it even more this time around. The hotel is absolutely stunning; beautiful decor, rooms, garden; everything is gorgeous. The staff are super welcoming and friendly and can’t do enough for you! They are also really inclusive of dogs and gave us a choice of room as we had two with us, so the manager allowed us to view both rooms and see which we felt was more suitable for us which was lovely. The additions of dog towels, treats and toys is also such a lovely touch. The food is out of this world; it is absolutely delicious! They have a good choice of dishes on the menu so definitely something to suit everyone. The room itself was beautifully clean, as well as the entire hotel! You can tell the team take a lot of pride in Taychcreggan and it really shows. It is probably our favourite hotel to stay in in Scotland and we will forever recommend it to others.

United KingdomRooms are comfortable but a bit dated. It would be good if the option for pub food was better advertised.
All the staff were very friendly, the food was good and the options for things to do in the hotel were great.

United States1 female staff member (east European?) found her rather frosty, definitely not warm with us. Makes you wonder why she is in this business. The rest were all excellent.
Got upgraded and had beautiful view over the water at sunset. Great ambience - Decor inside (including lighting, fire, and candles”) and out beautiful. Loved watching the birds at the bird feeders and sun reflecting on windows at sunset. One of the staff keeps beautiful diverse range of hens. Breakfast staff (female swimmer) and manager (male Romanian?) were so helpful in giving recommendations on best beaches (we back tracked and went to both), where to find highland cows (found them) and seals (could see them in the distance). Loved the breakfast selection and they accommodated me tasting the salmon, while having another breakfast main dish.

Dog-friendly bedrooms rooms and bar - lots ov towels, dog snacks and balls. (dogs were not allowed in the restaurant - but you could have your meal in the orangery). Lovely hotel

The staff were very friendly and when the hotel said dog friendly it really was, with dog treats and towels to dry your dog and separate dining area if you wanted your dog with you at dinner, breakfast.
