How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. The property is a bit dated, could do with a bit of TLC. Booked 2 rooms. No problems with one room, but the other seemed to have a problem with water supply. Another guest borrowed the shower as hers didn't work.
Child friendly. Breakfast was very good, plenty of options, although we missed out on the first day as the information provided on arrival said breakfast from 8.30 & we needed to leave by that time. We later discovered that breakfast was ready earlier, shame to have missed it! The hosts were polite & attentive at breakfast, making an effort for the children in particular. Close enough to walk to most areas of interest in the town & to bus route if needed.

The WiFi is bit weak.
Very nice little guest house, simple clean and very friendly staff. Very good location just few meters from the beach. We had to leave early in morning and they provided it in the room the evening before.

Another stay at the Thalatta. As always a very pleasant experience. The staff is absolutely lovely and very helpful. The room was decent size and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast very tasty. Some people would say that the place could do with some updating of the communal areas and the rooms- well- I think it gives it certain charm and character. Fantastic value for money and a great location. I would highly recommend Thalatta.

WiFi connection very poor, back pain, of the bed,small telly can't see the guide from the bed. Overall good for value.

The Guest House is quite dated, the furniture in the room and the bedspreads, looked tired and old fashioned, and the shower was very basic, with a shower curtain. The radiator in the top rooms, which were colder was a little inadequate, but the building was warm throughout.
The staff were very friendly and called a taxi for me and helped me with my case. The breakfast was lovely. The Guest House was well situated, close to the beach and a short walk from the centre of town. The hot water was nice and hot.

Tv in the room was in the wrong place. A fire door was wedged open. Breakfast was partly undercooked. Toilet didn't flush properly.
The room was comfortable. Location was good.

It will be very noisy in the middle of the night, which makes it difficult for me to sleep. The signal is not very good.
The landlord is very kind and has provided a lot of help. Free breakfast is worth mentioning, which attracts me very much.

Late breakfast time. Starting at 8.30, too late for business people. No interest in doing it any earlier. Very dated decor and furnishings and a very temperamental shower. WiFi was poor.

We were very pleased with our choice of guest house.
Large bedroom with very comfortable beds and clean linen. Our towels changed regularly and bins emptied daily. Quiet room and the guest house is in good area of the town. We felt very welcome and we were looked after really well.

B&B-style hotel (no breakfast) on a quiet street. Restaurant nearby and close to the shore. Take bus 1 or 1a (different stop, but a block past the roundabout) after the tunnel from downtown. I walked back to the bus station / main square on the way back to pick up the airport bus. Comfortable budget accommodation, and courteous front desk staff with enough brochures to assist the tourist as well. I would book again.

For the price we paid any grumbles are not appropriate.
