The bar closed at 10.30pm…on a Friday night… and it was £3.50 for half a lager. They wanted to charge my wife £4.70 for a soda water with a shot of black currant juice - when she made a comment about the price they reduced the cost.

The food wasn’t great and the bar needs stocking up . A bar beside the river should be heaving with people but the lack of drink behind the bar was not good

Sadly during our stay there seemed to be a problem with fire alarms going off multiple times until very late at night. Not great as we needed to check out at 6am so sleep was very much needed. Also the room we stayed in was directly behind reception so it was quite noisy at night. We could hear people up and down the stairs and lots of doors being closed by guests in other rooms.

The hotel is situated right next to the river. A lovely view and close enough to walk into town for good and drinks. We stayed in the executive room, which was a great size, a river view and a really comfy bed!

On arrival the room did not have a bed for our daughter, spoke to Chelsea on reception who went out of her way to swap rooms for us and sort out a bed for our daughter, room was very good but keen ,attentive staff made it better, then in the morning Chelsea was on reception still smiling after a late /early shift well done to her.

Although recently refurbished the bath facia was cracked. If you are in any way restricted in movement then the climb into the bath/shower will prove very difficult. The bed was supposed to be King size but it wasn't. Some items supposed to be complimentary were not present. The menu in the restaurant is restricted and this only encourages one to eat elsewhere if staying for a few days. No real ale available only on keg.

Beautiful view from the room. Spacious accommodation and a fabulous choice of TV viewing if you already subscribe to a supplier (e.g. Netflix) or use a basic catch up (e.g. iPlayer).

The breakfast-bacon & sausages were ok, hash browns were barely warm & soggy. The mushrooms were really good though. Also, the bed was quite soft & there was a pinkish stain on the toilet seat (maybe replace it)

Carpet had a big ripple across end of bed which we tripped over a couple of times. Service in restaurant was a little slow. We were off to airport just after 6.09 am and no access to main hotel to return kept card so had to leave it in the room, we advised reception in arrival we would be leaving early and would not have time for breakfast but they did not advise about returning the key card or offer a take away breakfast bag.

Room was very nice and comfortable with addition of very good shower in bathroom. Great view of the Thames and local rowing club. Dinner was covert nice and enjoyable. Unfortunately we headed to airport quite early next morning so missed breakfast. Very convenient for Heathrow airport - just 20 minute drive away.

Decor in the room and many of the public spaces was overbearing and old-fashioned. Surprised the in-house bar was closed so early, especially as the hotel was apparently full, as we found out next morning at breakfast. No possibly of a night cap after a busy day and journey.

Breakfast was better than expected. Dining room with river view was lovely and food selection good and freshly cooked. Staff were friendly, honest and patient. Clearly the building was full of history and the location outstanding. What a brilliant place to develop and modernise? Safety standards and general cleanliness were evident. We felt safe and slept well.

Cleanliness in our room was not the best. An Empty drinks bottle and a dirty t-shirt was in the room when we arrived. Bathroom taps had built up grime on so not just a little spot that had been missed, it’s obviously been poor for a while! Even the mirror had old toothpaste splashed up it. Not a big deal but the complimentary tea/coffee sachets were on rations and the shampoo/soap were cheap and very small.

Decor in the room was great, the room was huge! Incredible view out the window of the water. The price was very reasonable and I am glad we stayed there, I would stay again. the restaurant area was really smart and the breakfast was the best buffet breakfast we have had (and we have stayed in ALOT of different hotels) Beautiful view from the restaurant over the water and an incredible seating area where we could sit and enjoy the views, and all the baby goslings. The staff were all lovely, in particular the young male night receptionist was brilliant.

The owner should invest a bit to clean outside. And not let the inside deteriorate. The garden and access to Thames looks deserted and unkempt although with little effort would be spectacular. Now it looks like they just want to make money without taking care of the nice property!

Interior staircase a little dirty. Balconies need a clean and paintwork maintenance.
