Good old fashioned pub didn’t know what to expect so was pleasantly surprised great location great staff good selection of local brewed ales and very hearty breakfast served by the landlady herself who’s local knowledge is worth tapping into

At night the bar below can be busy so expect some noise. It didn't really bother me tbf. but might be an issue for others. The stairs to the bedroom requires some care decending as the steps are somewhat narrow. I held on to the rail all times decending. The room felt somewhat dated than in the pics. It was very clean and no doubt an old building but still looked fresher and larger in the pics.

Excellent location in centre of town. There is a busy bar on ground floor. The bedrooms are overhead. I was on the top floor of three storey building. Food is served incl evening meal if desired. Breakfast is excellent. The room was smaller than in the pic but still reasonable size for one person, slightly dated from pic. Bathroom spotless. Bed very comfy. Staff very welcoming and friendly. There is a market in the village square. Charming village, very British. I liked it.

Rooms were very hot and the stairs very steep especially for one of our party who has very poor sight. Tables in the bar were very sticky.

Breakfast service was very slow on the Saturday morning and the coffee machine was broken. Surely you have a jar of Nescafé for emergencies? The breakfast when it arrived was good. Much quicker on the Sunday morning.

Promised a room without a beam by the owner as husband is 6’3” staff weren’t told so ended up in the wrong room Reserved Table for dinner given away so we were offered a dirty broken one. No one told us it was bar service so we sat for a while before we went and asked. Three staff all on phones just pointed to the menus so we walked out and went up the road where had fabulous service. Room was tiny and the shower was a foot off the ground with no non slip mat so felt very dangerous Socket for kettle was either under a desk or almost behind the bed so felt unsafe Pat testing out of date No apology from owner for mucking up the room even though she was on site Final straw was that breakfast took an hour to arrive and there were only 8 of us in the whole restaurant. We did get a refund for the second days breakfast because we couldn’t wait that long Poor communication let’s this quirky inn down

An hour's wait for breakfast . No real welcome .wasn't told about breakfast time or what the second key was for .Some of the staff were lovely ...but others not .

We called ahead to let the hotel know that we were going to arrive late on a Friday night and were told that they couldn’t offer dinner because their chef was sick but they didn’t call to warn us. When we asked for dinner alternatives, the staff suggested a Chinese takeaway or the local Co-op. They also warned us that Friday was Karaoke night. We had been driving for 6.5 hours and the loud music went on until 12.30am! Again, we’re we’re not warned in advance about this. Our room was not cheap but they don’t prioritise their paying guests comfort.

Bed was uncomfortable, bins in bedroom and bathroom were not emptied from previous occupants. Ashtrays full of cigarette buts at the back of the property No real breakfast menu and lack of selection of cereals, fruit etc Waited 45 minutes for cooked breakfast to be served Ate breakfast in the bar which still had crisps littered on the floor from the night before

We loved everything, there’s nothing that i would change.

Everything was amazing from the staff that went above and beyond to meet needs and accommodations. Breakfast was included in the price which was a big plus. Very delicious and well made. The location is perfect as well, close to everything. Laura was over the top amazing. I rented a car and didn’t know my way around with the road signs or driving on the opposite side of the road. She was kind enough to let me look over at her daughter’s driving manual which helped alot. She went above and beyond

We had Room 1 up in the top of building, which unfortunately was under the water tank which constantly emptied and filled throughout the night and starting at 6.30am in morning. it sounded like a plane taking off every 5 minutes

Nothing not to like. If you’re not a fan of steep stairs/low ceilings in places, perhaps not perfect for you but I thought it only added to the charm of the place, and what you’d expect of an Inn that’s been there for centuries.

Absolutely charming, characterful, immaculate AND with beautiful wallpaper! They allowed our dog to stay at no extra charge. Coffee and tea provided in the room. Bed was comfier than my son at home and the staff were friendly and helpful.
