Live music on one of the nights meant it was difficult to sleep and noisy guests in the corridor outside our room on the night of the live music. We would stay here again though.

Large, clean room with comfortable bed. Great location for visiting the Lake District. Staff friendly especially the lady at breakfast. Good choice of cooked food at breakfast. Evening meals also very good and the menu changed on 3 of the 4 nights we were there. Very dog friendly. We could have our dog with us at breakfast and for evening meals in the pub area.

The mattress was a little hard, but this is purely personal preference!

The pub was so cozy while it was pouring rain outside. Food was delicious and all the staff as well as the other customers were incredibly welcoming and really accommodating. Obviously the enormous roll-top bath was a treat. We loved watching the lambs in the field next door too!

The only issue was on the Saturday night we were having drinks in the bar, and the young lad behind the bar asked if we would be ‘getting any more drinks as he wanted to take the till off at 10pm’ just made us feel really rushed and uncomfortable and it was a shame. We had spent a lot of money eating at the pub and also on drinks so didn’t really appreciate feeling rushed. Other than that it was a lovely stay and we had a great time!

The derby arms is brilliant value for money, very clean and cosy! We had a room with the rolled top bath and it was stunning. Bed was really comfortable and the food was lovely too. We had a fab stay as a couple and with our two friends.

It's great value for money so anything which wasn't perfect was accounted for in the price and there wasn't anything significant enough to bother mentioning here

    Lovely staff, comfortable quiet rooms.

The bedroom was quite cold but comfortable otherwise. The carpet needs cleaning or relaying.

The staff were so friendly and helpful. It was a nice location as you can do a 10-12km walk up onto the scar to get views including Morecambe Bay. Lots of local products are used at the hotel and pub which is humbling. We enjoyed our dinner and breakfast here alot.

The ambience of the bar area. Lacked 'cosiness' and was cold when the fire went out and wasn't re-lit.

Good price. Nice staff. Property has 'character. Lovely bathroom and comfortable bed. Very good breakfast

Room was rather small. There was no wardrobe so we used the hooks on the back of the doors. The plug sockets were rather inaccessible and so we could not charge our mobile phones.

The staff were very courteous and efficient. We had a wonderful dinner and the breakfast was excellent. Very good value for money. The area was beautiful and near to where we needed to be the next day.

The room we stayed in was really small we stayed with our dog luckily she was a small dog but there was no room to even move round the bed. The carpet was very tired and unclean. The bathroom floor didn’t appear to have been cleaned from the previous guest. The shower was tired all peeling where the plug was. The bed was so uncomfortable and a very old mattress kept rolling into the middle. The rooms need some renovation and could just be cleaner.

The food was lovely we had a Sunday dinner and nice breakfast. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Some nice touches such as hand-wash, hand cream, shower gel, apple juice and complementary biscuits. All local produce. The pub was cosy with a log fire and rustic feel. We had stayed in Scotland for weekend so was just a stopover to break up the journey home so was good for what we needed.

There was nothing really that I didn't like. The room was a little tired and could do with a lick of paint, but it was clean and tidy. This did not take away from the comfort and cosiness of the room.

The food here is a really good standard and plentiful. Staff were very accomodating and service was impeccable. They are very dog friendly and the ale was lovely. Definitely good value for the money paid. The location was spot on for visiting areas of interest, and there are plenty of local walks .
