We had a lovely room at the front .but a lot of road noise.(main road) Would ask for a room near back or take ear plugs..

Friendly staff, very welcoming & helpful. Value for money. Meals were tasty & good selection for breakfast. Well worth a visit to stay & or eat there..

It was very clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and food very good. Ideal location for our destination of the Beamish Museum. Plenty of parking which is always good. Had a singer on while we were there which was a bonus as we love live music.

Bedroom was comfortable But near the front window of the bedroom, the floor did creek a lot sounded like floor broads were broken

The toilet was very small, my feet were jammed up against the wall which was not comfortable. I wasn't aware that you can get a lower rate by booking direct.

Breakfast was fine, sensible proportions. Very handily placed on the bus route so good for the cricket. Good, roomy shower that was hot and powerful.

Bathrooms were not refurbed to the same standards as the rooms, but showers were nice and hot. Small refrigerators for cold drinks would have been good but not essential.

Unfortunately, I had a problem with meal ...barstaff girl said chef thought it although admitted it was overcooked edable . Didn't like attitude.....I wasn't offered refund either .She was young and inexperienced in customer service. Bar manager when on was excellent though

It was tired, lacked maintenance and tlc. Carpets needed changing or cleaning. Nothing major but it would have made a huge difference.

Staff were amazing couldn't do enough for you. Food was excellent.

Although the rooms were very clean and had a comfortable bed the furniture design is not suitable. It is extremely ornate but totally unsuitable for the rooms. It is extremely large and heavy and leaves no room for a chair or chairs. Our wardrobe had no door handles. The bedsteads are huge and heavy and in my and my family’s opinion a bit of a health hard. The ornate legs at the bottom of the beds are huge and bulbous all of us banged our knees on them more than once and quite painfully. We have stayed here before and suffered with this on every occasion. We are positive other customers must have suffered similarly. Sad to say they need to be disposed of or suitably altered in our opinion

Lovely staff and felt very welcomed. Room was big enough and very clean. Pleasantly surprised that towels were refreshed every day and tea / coffees / biscuits were replenished. Really appreciated that the hotel let me to bring a couple of guests for breakfast one morning, for a very reasonable additional charge.

Very little room to move in the bedroom. Inconvenient having steps in the room. Nowhere to put luggage. No housekeeping, bed not made, wet towels not replaced and tea tray not restocked.

Fire alarm issues on all 3 nights.

Feel rooms need bit tlc. Freshen up with bit paint. few things in bathroom needed fixed. Found hotel very hot. Fire alarm went off 6.30am saturday morning we all evacuated building. No staff to be seen to check everyone there! Or tell us what was happening! No fire engine. About 10 mins later woman came to front door said something no one could hear cos she was too far away! Then went back in! I had to go into bar to check ok to go back in! Then on the sunday morning it went off again! At 8! No one to be seen again! That went off within 3 or 4 mins. Need to train staff and sort out why it keeps going off! Thought bit expensive for small bottle water

The fire alarm went off twice during our stay. Once on Saturday at 6am and then again on Sunday during breakfast. The bathroom was quite small and the shower basin filled up quicker than it drained.

The staff were all very helpful throughout our stay. The food was really nice and their was a large selection to choose from for breakfast. The rooms were comfortable and cosy and we had a good sleep.
