though breakfast was available from 7- 12 and the cooked breakfast was good, could have done with more choice of cereals, there was no fruit or yogurt.

Dinner menu was good, and staff were great

No covered area outside for people to sit under, it rained the whole time I was there and being someone who vapes, it was an issue.

Lovely breakfast, super staff and a homely vibe, animals are allowed too. I slept so well, the bed was very comfortable, lovely linen, fluffy towels, food was good as well. Lots of parking available and nice views of the sheep in the fields. I really enjoyed my stay.

The room booked was described as a "superior twin room" . It was very small (room 4) and a bit of a disappointment. On a previous stay the " superior twin room" allocated was number 10 - a much bigger and more comfortable room. I'd like to return again but would ask, if possible, for room 10 or similar.

The situation was lovely and close to the hills for walking trips. It was very clean. The food was good and staff very helpful.

Overall the hotel was a little ‘tired’. The doors and floors creaked and others guests movements were easily heard.

The staff were brilliant, very welcoming. Breakfast was great. Parking ample and easy. Relaxed atmosphere.

Just a couple of niggly things. The food on the night was ok....just fine. Ok if you wanted fried food...cant go wrong with that! The breakfast was ok too, we had to ask for toast though, abit stingy there. Plus...10am check out on a Sunday is not great....11am at least would make it more of a break away!

Good location, warm comfortable and staff were very pleasant.

There are different stds of room and some of my colleagues didnt sleep too well in the twin rooms. The showers seemed to be inconsistent too, with a couple of comments about them being a bit cold. The location is fine if you're just looking for a quiet place with good food, but there isnt a lot going on in the immediate surroundings....but that's the Scottish Borders ! so cant complain about that

All in all, a good choice of hotel. food was excellent (both breakfast and evening meal) with a good choice. staff were friendly and welcoming, and my room in general was OK.

Hot water had some issues, but it was solved during our stay, so everything went well after. Nothing more to add here. :)

Great location close to shore. We did liked the massive fireplace in hotel restaurant and overall it felt "like home". Breakfast was amazing with plenty to choose from. We loved the morning vibe of the place. Staff was friendly and kind. Dinner at the place was ok, but not great.

No staff on site overnight. Is this allowed? The place needs upgrading as it is very dated and tatty in many areas. Beer choices rather unexciting but wine list was ok.

Breakfast very good, though if you didn’t want a cooked breakfast then there didn’t seem to be much choice. Evening meal was decent. Staff were all pleasant and helpful and service was good but the place was very quiet. Dog friendly. EV ChargePoint. Room was a decent size and bed comfortable. Good location only 30 mins south of Edinburgh.

This time around I was a little disappointed with the service in general. Dinner and breakfast food were ok but for some reason it didn’t feel very friendly nor as pleasant as my first visit alas.

It’s a lovely place and is conveniently located for our road trips (and even has an EV charging station)

The room was dusty and full of cobwebs. The windowsill was very dusty and there was black mould in the bathroom. The noise from the road was almost unbearable and we did not sleep well. The fringe festival was on so I guess that’s why the room was £115 bed and breakfast but the room was not clean enough to be worth it. I mentioned it to the lads on the reception but they’re were very young lads and did not really know how to deal with my complaint or know what to say. They eventually say they would pass it on but on return after the tattoo the room had not been cleaned. We had breakfast in a room where it was so dark we could not see. When we asked to move we were told the tables in the lighter area had been booked. My mum is 86 and does not like to make a fuss. This was a long trip for her and the hotel was disappointing.

The staff were really friendly and the breakfast was nice.

Some of the seating in the lounge was tired and in need of recovering. The shower in our room requires servicing as it took ages to get warm/hot.

A well established hotel on the A68 to Edinburgh. Very friendly staff, a comfortable lounge area and bar. Very good traditional food from the restaurant. Large comfortable bed, we had a good night's sleep. A very enjoyable breakfast. We were able to take our dog.
