We had a very large dog barking in the room next door. When we left the room on one occasion it ran out of the room straight at us barking - quick a shock and frightening.

The pool was a great bonus, lovely bathroom room and comfy bed.

The pool was a bit chilly and so were the showers. Changing room drainage poor.

I remember the original eye hospital and loved the original features . The bed was super comfy with lovely linen and good pillows and breakfast was exceptional. The gardens were stunning and we complimented the gardener and her husband.

We stayed in a junior suite and the only thing different to my friends room (a deluxe double) was the addition of a sofa. Honestly, I feel like our room was overpriced.

Rooms are comfortable and well furnished, bed was huge and bath was lovely. Breakfast was nice and staff at breakfast were lovely.

Don’t do a group wide system upgrade at peak time for paying for dinner and ordering drinks.

Still water wasn’t replenished after 1st night stay so had to call reception to order more which took a while. Room was quite dark even with all the lights on and blinds open.

Nice choice of cooked breakfasts and also buffet style to choose from. Clean rooms with good quality products in bathrooms.

Poached eggs at breakfast were bought in & flavourless. Attended a function on the Sunday. Ordered a roast chicken - got 1 wing & 1 thigh. Shame on you.

The lack of decent air conditioning. the last few times I’ve stayed the temperature in the room has been unbearable.

the hotel is beautifully decorated, good location and a nice bar/restaurant.

In our first room the air conditioning didn't work so we needed to move rooms which was a pain with two dogs. I think the bedroom corridors should be painted a different colour as I know it was a hospital but the colour didn't soften the effect.

Dinner was lovely and moved to a larger room which was very nice.

Excellent position for users of teh crown court. Comfortable room. Good restaurant with excellent staff.

What's not to like.

The hotel has sustainable credentials, there is a good marriage of old and new features with a small garden of vegetables and herbs. The restaurant has a good selection of quality dishes. I wasn't expecting a spa bath and pool, this was an added bonus. If you sacrifice daily room cleaning they offer a free drink! That's a thirst (or first) I can quench sustainably!

We were at a wedding away from the venue. We couldn’t check in early so had to rely on getting our room key when returning from the wedding. We returned at midnight and the door was locked. I don’t expect this from a hotel - I don’t want to feel like I am rousing the owner of a B&B. You are a hotel - you’re door should be open.

The staff were wonderful and couldn’t do enough to help. They remembered you from previous conversations and always made you feel valued. The room was excellent as expected.

Think the drainage on the toilets in the communal areas was a little to be desired. Could smell them on occasion. The cleanliness wasn’t the issue.

The room was very small for the price and there could've been more breakfast options.

Good location, beautiful, charming building. The staff were lovely and helpful throughout the stay and made me feel very welcome. The options for a soft or firm pillow for preferences didn't go unnoticed. The bathroom was lovely and the fridge for my own- bought melting chocolate was needed.
