Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe hotel buidling is fabulous. The old Brewery. Amazing architecture. But the hotel decor is quite tired and could do with an upgrade. It doens' really match up to expectations of a 5 star hotel. I don't think it lives up to the wording on the Montcalm website. e.g. "The Montcalm Luxury Hotels exude a timeless appeal a little like that of London itself. It's a place where the classic and the contemporary co-exist, and where often, the one informs the other. Similarly, there's a craftsmanship to the way we create the Montcalm experience that transcends time. It means an uncompromising commitment to quality and an understated style that never goes out of fashion. You'll sense it in the simple sophistication of a stay at the Montcalm. With effortless elegance, everything just feels right, without trying too hard." Currently, I don't think the decor at the Montcalm Brewery matches that description. I would say it's more like a good four-star hotel.
The staff were amazing. So helpful and accommodating. They filled my request for an early check-in (around 10.30am, rather than 3pm). Plus they upgraded my room to one with windows that opened. The location of the hotel is excellent. VBery central for getting to all areas and a very interesting neighbourhood.

United KingdomQuality of the rooms was quite poor, very dated rooms. Furniture was in very used condition with areas of dust that had not been cleaned. 1st room we were given only had 4'6" bed and room was an upgrade to Montcalm Club. We have stayed in many hotels all over London and never had a small double. The bathroom had a full window separating the bathroom and bedroom with a privacy blind that was not dark enough to give any privacy. The Jugged Hare pub that is part of the hotel was more expensive than room service. 175ml glass of Malbec on room service was £6.95 and 250ml in the pub was a whopping £15.50. The TV in the room was very old and when watching the TV the picture did not fill the screen In checkout this morning we were not asked if we had enjoyed our stay let alone greeted due to the receptionist being pre occupied with something else. Overall this hotel was not worth the money we paid for 2 nights. I would not be returning to this hotel or any Montcalm hotels in the future

United Kingdomthe bath/shower was a touch temperamental and hard to operate
The location was great, just a few stops on the tube and we were right in the middle of the west end. Being in the financial district meant it was quiet at the weekend which was great. The room was a touch small but had everything we needed and was very clean. We would definitely stay there again

United KingdomThe room was rather gloomy and had a strange window between the bedroom and bathroom !! The room showed signs of wear on the wall paper and skirting boards and a very dirty plate( not ours) was left in our room after cleaning. This is the second time we have stayed at the Brewery as we thought we would give it another chance but again lake our first visit the fire alarm went off! The shower need cleaning out as it rainfall was like a dribble but the worst thing was a constant drone of air conditioning unit outside !! The bed was saggy and needed turning .
Location was excellent near barbarian center close to tube station and a twenty minute walk to fleet street Staff were helpful and very pleasant and doorman great great advice on the local area

United KingdomThe gym is terrible and needs a serious refit, the treadmill kept cutting out and resetting after 8 mins! The cross trainer on the right was not level, I have stayed previously and the bike was not level. It needs some investment in there for you to be able to claim you have gym facilities as a 5* hotel, this really let down our stay.
Hotel was in a good location for what we were staying for, comfortable beds and good showers!

United KingdomThe hotels website described the room as having a mini-bar, but as we booked through an accom website apparently not part of our package, so dont rely on hotel info as guide to room! Mix of glasses was odd, only one beaker and second not brought up despite multiple calls to reception. Received a scam msg though booking dot com messaging feature, unclear whether this a problem at Montcalm or Booking end!
Great sized room, and pre-dinner drinks in the club room are fab, these were included as part of or room package :-)

United KingdomThere were no bathrobes or slippers. There was no tea / coffee maker, just a kettle with nasty cheap coffee and UHT milk. Not even a biscuit. Very disappointed for a 5* hotel. Would have had better at a Premier Inn. Furniture heavy, dark and a bit grubby.

United KingdomGreat location and nice feel to the hotel. Staff were very welcoming. Room was OK but a little tired in places. TVs old and dated and could do with being updated with bigger screens/satellite TV. Bed very comfy and spotless bed linen and robes etc were a nice extra. Shower mat recommended as bath was quite slippery and potentially dangerous. Room was very quiet which was lovely.
