I didn't like paying £20 for overnight parking. The public spaces were functional but didn't feel relaxing or cosy. The ambience of the hotel was perhaps more that of a gentleman's club. I did however sit in the window of the lounge at reception to the front of the building and sketch the view of the park opposite when my wife shopped for an hour or so. It's an excellent central location overlooking Forbury Gardens.

Location and large bedroom with high ceilings and a sense of light and architectural grandeur. This was followed through in the furniture and decor. Breakfast room was pleasant and intimate with a mix of table and self-service options. Good quality coffee served (always a bonus). I was curious to know what the hotel looked liked on the inside and to experience its services - this curiosity was satisfied on this visit. Staff were pleasant and courteous.

Lots of bird faeces on the balcony made it unusable. Some Mould in bathroom.

Couldn’t really fault anything as staff were friendly and couldn’t do enough to make us feel welcome. If I was being really picky I would say that the dinners are a bit small portion but then again the quality of the food was 10/10 so it’s just personal preference not actually a problem as such.

Spacious, friendly staff, beautifully decorated, comfy beds, very clean, it was my partners birthday and they even put a happy birthday message on the table with chocolates and rose petals on the bed! Would love to come back again it’s was a wonderful experience being topped off with a couples massage at the spa which was also fabulous.

Bathroom door wouldn’t close. I contacted the reception for assistance but despite telling me they would send someone to help nobody arrived. Unable to get get showered and ready due to no privacy prior to going to our event

It was a little noisy in the evening when people came back from town, you could hear clearly everything in the hall way and through the wall from the room next door.

Adding a service charge onto drinks at the bar! Room was too hot and the fan provided was old and very noisy. Also room needed a bit of renovation for a 5 star, it was a bit tired.

My room was in the 'House' , effectively a new build in the car park at the back of the old building. Whilst comfortable it lacked charm and character, which I was hoping for from the photographs when I booked. This made it a generic hotel room and expensive for what it turned out to be. Also I had to walk across the car park to get back into the main building for the bar and breakfast which was not great in the rain.

Comfortable quiet room, great location for station and centre of town. Helpful reception desk. Good breakfast.

Initial welcome at reception was not overly friendly. Not able to access 'netflix' or similar on TV. No airconditioning in room. No milk in room for morning coffee and tea.

We parked in a business carpark by mistake when following sat nav to parking. Could you check this and also a bigger sign outside the carpark would help!
