The hotel is in a beautiful location " warm clean comfortable and homley, the staff are the most wonderful warm hosts one could ask to meet, nothing was to much trouble and they are genuinely warm and welcoming, the food was exceptional and I will definitely be visiting the cockoo brow again

The £10/night charge for the dog was a little unexpected as I didn't see the charge on either booking.com or their website . Overall, the food was great ( got to try the curried scotch egg starter) . The only letdown was on Sunday evening when my partner had the Sunday lunch , it felt and looked like it was from the afternoons Sunday lunch reheated, another family had said the same .

The inn is just what we needed , a quite secluded place with lots of character. The staff went above and beyond to make our anniversary special. Decorated the bedroom with balloons and a banner and even personalised it with a card and chocolates. Made it feel so special . Would we stay here again.. most definitely. The Evening meal was beautiful, they even made that special too coming out with a lovely surprise at the end and a sparkler on top . They couldn't of done more to make it our special day . Definitely get the prawns for starters .. beautiful home made huge prawns . Hmm..

Bit old fashioned in need of an update. Could have done with some exposed plug sockets to charge phones and hairdryer.

Location was fab. Most Staff were attentive and welcoming. Room was comfortable with a lovely big bathroom.

The bedrooms are very dated. The mattresses need changing (hard and very well used/ old)and linen not big enough for the bed!

Loved the cosy feeling but specially the food and the staff. It was my fiancés 30th and they surprised us with some balloons and card! It was the ideal Lake District stay. We will be back!

Nothing really to dislike ,it’s an old property so parts did look tired but it was part of the charm. Would suggest that the shower in the room we were in had a better screen as water and spray went through the gaps onto floor.

Only thing I would of liked was the fire being lit in the stables / games room. He did say to let them know if I needed the heating on.. I thought by the time it started to warm up, I would be wanting to go bed. So not their fault at all. I didn't want to put anyone out.

Amazing staff. Extremely nice and helpful. Loved that I could literally take my dog everywhere with me. They made me and her feel so welcome and at home. I absolutely loved the fireplaces around the place too. LOVED the waffles with bacon and syrup too. Thank you for making my stay just what I needed.
