The bedrooms are very dated. The mattresses need changing (hard and very well used/ old)and linen not big enough for the bed!

Loved the cosy feeling but specially the food and the staff. It was my fiancés 30th and they surprised us with some balloons and card! It was the ideal Lake District stay. We will be back!

Nothing really to dislike ,it’s an old property so parts did look tired but it was part of the charm. Would suggest that the shower in the room we were in had a better screen as water and spray went through the gaps onto floor.

Only thing I would of liked was the fire being lit in the stables / games room. He did say to let them know if I needed the heating on.. I thought by the time it started to warm up, I would be wanting to go bed. So not their fault at all. I didn't want to put anyone out.

Amazing staff. Extremely nice and helpful. Loved that I could literally take my dog everywhere with me. They made me and her feel so welcome and at home. I absolutely loved the fireplaces around the place too. LOVED the waffles with bacon and syrup too. Thank you for making my stay just what I needed.

The only negative and it is a minor one was the shower being over the bath which can be tricky for older patrons.

This is a beautiful and cosy little country hotel. The rooms are perfectly appointed, warm and comfortable. The staff were really helpful and friendly. The restaurant was good wholesome country cooking exactly what you would hope for from an environment like this. It is a gorgeous location, quiet and just near the lakes for fabulous walks and drives.

Honestly there was nothing to dislike

Of course it depends what you want to do and see in the Lake District but it's a great location for pretty much anywhere in and around the Southern Lakes. The room was great, probably a squeeze for 2 people but perfect for me and my dog. Roomy shower - trust me, that is rarely the case - and very easy to use. Good tea/coffee making facilities, with biscuits, which were replenished daily. Very comfortable bed. Breakfasts were excellent. Very tasty and plentiful, really set me up for the day. Staff were so friendly, nothing too much trouble. Lovely atmosphere.
