Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomI wasn’t aware that a £30 deposit was taken at check in and this had to be a card not contactless. Luckily I had my card details although not the card itself.
It was in a beautiful location, close to town centre, beach and The Leas. Staff were efficient and friendly. Hotel has seen better days and looks as if it’s being refurbished but it was clean and fairly priced.

United KingdomRoom was very basic, no pictures on walls, nothing homely, chair or table , very stark but it was very clean and our room looked like it had recently been painted. Mattress needed changing as it was a "meet in the middle" kinda night!

United KingdomIt is in the early stages of a makeover - which means no food facilities (although there is a small bar). I think our room had been modernised but clearly they are not going for a particularly high standard. The makeover seems to have stalled. I hope they complete it because there is plenty of potential for a lovely period residence but there is a hell of a lot to do.
Excellent location, brilliant wifi, warm, reliable (if small) lift, spacious room with high ceiling and picture windows overlooking Leas and sea, friendly reception staff. Nice period pictures on walls.

United KingdomRooms did not have any ventilation and got extremely warm and stuffy. Even when there were raging winds outside the air in the room was stale and uncirculated. Very tiny TV in the room. Not enough plug points.
Staff were amazing. Super helpful and accommodating. Very friendly. Room was spacious and clean.

United KingdomYou have to pay for parking up to 6.pm if you get there to check in on time. Hotel doesn't give you a permit to park. TV in the room was tiny like a computer monitor, but other than that it was lovely would stay there again.
Room has recently been freshly painted and it had a bath. Storage was perfect as it had a built in wardrobe in the bathroom and dressing table. Location was great right across from the beach. Hubby and I took a walk along the promenade. Local shops that are a ten min walk. Had a Primark and an Asda. Has a lift which was great as we were on the 3rd floor.

United KingdomSad to see the the hotel is being redecorated and the quirky, unusual, wallpapers in the bedrooms are being replaced. The rooms now have very bland grey and white emulsion, grey curtains and grey carpet. Our featureless room could have been in a hospital. Little things could be improved. There were no plastic glasses in the bathroom (as is customary) but the kind receptionist found some paper cups for us. There is one light over the bed, rather than individual bedside lights. No sockets by the bed so phones etc had to be charged on the opposite side of the room on the chest of drawers, next to the tea making facilities.
We have been to the hotel several times before and return because we like it. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. There are stunning views from the balcony.

United KingdomIt was a tad warm in the rooms and we didn't seem to be able to control this but some people would love this. We just had the window ajar to go to sleep. Would of been nice if a breakfast option was available but we had a short walk out to have breakfast.
This is a lovely older style hotel which has had a recent makeover. The room we stayed in had been done out nicely, New bathroom and decorated. Work still in progress. The bar was closed as being refurbished but we didn't need the bar. The bed was so comfy. Lovely view from the balcony overlooking the English Channel with chairs to sit out. Kettle in room is always a bonus with tea, coffee, and milk sachets supplied. Was a really nice stay. Super being so close (short stroll) to the Lees cliff hall for a show. Parking is outside on the pay and display bays. You can purchase an exemption ticket for £5.50 from the hotel reception for your stay.

United KingdomI was asked for a deposit of £30 before she would give my key and I was told it was in case I smashed the room up. I'm a 63 year old lady who came for a weekend break 😂. I wasn't expecting that, so I'm not sure I'd go back for that reason. Also the pillow was so huge my neck hurt. A smaller spare pillow would be good and TV was very high up on the wall. Aside from that I was warm and comfortable
