Clean, quiet room, but could do with a refurb

The bathroom was small and the entire room needed a refurb. The mattress needs replacing - a v big dip on one side. Also having several pieces of art with naked women was just weird.

Much better than expected. Room was tired, but clean. Despite being above a busy pub, my room on the top floor was v quiet. Room was also spacious. The hotel is easy to find and only 5 mins from the station.

The macerator pumps and extractor fans can be heard very audibly from other rooms which woke me up whenever a neighbouring room used the bathroom. The cleaning staff came into my room while I was still in it, an hour before checking out time.

    Comfy beds, great location

The shower was a bit fiddly to set at the right temperature and took a few goes to get the hang of it Also with the curtains shut, it was still incredibly bright in the morning so may help with some darker lining for the curtains to block that out.

Staff were very friendly and cheery throughout the stay, The location was great as a starting point for day trips around Cornwall as well as visiting the beach in Hayle. Breakfast was lovely and cooked fresh each day to order, very quick to serve as you give your ETA for breakfast so they can plan accordingly.

Pillows and beds were lumpy, and the floors and tub in bathroom carried some long human hair. Most frustrating was the unreliable wifi in the room, though it worked fine downstairs.

Local hotel with bar, close to train and busses, kind and helpful hosting staff. Building and furnishings loaded with character. Large room, high ceiling, spacious bathroom, very comfortable shower. Breakfast each morning hot and delicious. There was a frig with milk for coffee and tea with plenty of beverage supply.

Best location in Hayle to explore Cornwall Region
    • Leisure trip
    • Couple

I would suggest them to review the bed mattress (room 4). It looks like the bed structure was smaller than the mattress which was a bit uncomfortable.

The house is a beautiful, historical place and very well located (5 minute walking from train station). The staff is amazing, always smiling and helping us whenever we needed it. Hayle is such a quiet place in Cornwall with an amazing sand beach, I totally recommend it if you don't want to stay in the busiest places. The hotel is really 2 minutes away from the bus stop that connects Hayle to St Ives and Penzance, for example. Breakfast is nice, I recommend it.

See comments re breakfast and traffic noise. A shelf above the bathroom wash basin would have been useful. there's nowhere to put toiletries/ eyedrops etc The hoovering hadn't been done very thoroughly - bits on the carpet between the window and bed. Also the bottom of the wardrobe was very dusty so had to put the surplus duvet on the floor. The entrance to the hotel could look a lot more inviting. What flowers there were looked good - you could add a tub of flowers on either side of the front door?

The staff were all friendly, efficient and very helpful especially the little blond waitress - named Taylor? Breakfast was ok. We prefer not to have to choose the night before. Poor quality bread for toast which quickly went soggy. The room was noisy because of traffic. the other side of the hotel might have been quieter? The beds were extremely comfortable - the best we've encountered anywhere.
