How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The electric shower wasn’t great - difficult to get the temperature right and low water

Can't think of anything negative.
This may well sound too good to be true, but there was no way the owners and staff could have done more to make our stay enjoyable and memorable. The whole event was exceptional for all 11 of us. Looking forward to our next visit.

The bar closes early (9.30pm). Not really a problem, and we were aware of this when we booked, just thought it worth a mention.
Booked the superior double and it was ideal, having a small sofa to sit on was a bonus. The bed & pillows was very comfy. A very clean room. Food/breakfast was very tasty with plenty of choice. The downstairs bar, lounge and restaurant areas were full of character with quirky bits of decor all around. Very friendly staff in all areas. Lovely, large beer garden and plenty of parking.

All was ok. Probably could be a bit more generous with the hospitality tray & it felt slightly difficult when I asked for a replenishment of milk & toiletries.
Comfortable and clean. Good location in a nice village. I was walking the Rutland Round with a group of friends & the accommodation was effectively on the path.

I don't have anything negative to say about my stay. I had a really lovely time.
Had a wonderful stay thank you. Really enjoyed the location, the outlook. Arrived during a beautiful Rutland sunset! Found there to be a lovely lively energy in this quaint village pub. Good hearty meals and tea and breakfast. If the locals like it, it must be a good sign. Room was perfect for me on my own - enough space for my things and sweet in its design. Clean, comfy bed and linen. Friendly service from all the team. Would recommend.

Fabulous! Super clean tidy room with comfy bed, great pub and beer, lovely wholesome food. Friendly welcoming staff. Just how an English country pub should be ! Really appreciated the packed lunch instead of breakfast as we were early leavers ! Will be back again ! and again.........

The walls are little thin, if you're a light sleeper I'd suggest ear plugs.
Staff were lovely, room was spacious and very comfortable and the food was excellent

The pub is lovely - staff very friendly, so accommodating for our little dog. Breakfast was delicious and the coffee was too, its a very comfortable relaxed friendly place to stay

Stayed 2 nights. Slept soundly on the first night but second night we had a few noise issues when the heating system started up in the early hours.
Lovely pub in a quiet village setting. We received a warm welcome upon arrival. Good sized car park and check-in was simple and easy. Double bedroom was fine with a spacious, modern and very clean en-suite. Good choice of drinks at the bar and staff were very attentive. Ate at the restaurant one evening and the food was plentiful and tasty. Both the full English and vegetarian breakfasts were good. The knowledgeable host provided us with a number of suggestions of places of local interest. Large beer garden but it was a bit too chilly to enjoy it during our stay! Oakham and Rutland Water just a few minutes drive away.
