Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIt would have been helpful to have more hotel information in the rooms eg about the swimming pool facilities. The food was standard hotel fare and not very adventurous.
Nice reception area, restaurant and bar. The staff were very efficient particularly in the bar. Lovely garden to sit in when sunny. Very comfortable room.

United KingdomThe only thing I would say is I really hope the spa comes back as the hotel has stunning grounds and good potential for even more. Also I’m an afternoon tea lover and would be lovely to indulge on that overlooking the gardens on a rainy afternoon!
My husband and I just came from a 3 night stay( initially would have been 4 nights but because my son was Ill we delayed 1 day. We contacted the hotel to let them know and Max checked us so when we arrived the next day we could go straight to our room. Being away from home with a small child always give us some anxiety and I have to day we felt very at home and very well looked after by all the staff specially Max, Sam and all the restaurant staff. The food was amazing, the room was comfortable we had good sleep and the grounds and views are stunning. We are certainly coming back to the hotel. It was also very central to all the all the things we did. We walked to dove cottage, we’ve done a stunning circular walk around the lake and drove no more than 30 mins to visit Hill Top Farm and the world of Peter Rabbit in Ambleside. Thank you for a lovely staycation.

United KingdomWhen I pick a "Spa Hotel" I expect the water to be warm. I thought with such a lovely outlook it would be bustling with people but to my surprise there was only one other person reading on a lounger. Well the temperature of the water was "baltic" and if I had wanted to go wild swimming I would have gone to a local river. So maybe that was why we were the only ones in the pool. To add to this my husband took a drink from the water dispenser and thought it tasted a bit off. He didn't have his glasses on but when I looked at it, it was green with algea. Very noticeably. Needless to say we didn't go back the following day. Advised management of algea.Very disappointing.
Lovely location. Free parking. Warm comfortable room. Decent breakfast.

United KingdomSwimming pool could have been warmer. Dinner was underwhelming. One small fillet of sea bream was a very poor, expensive main dish. Vegetable and potatoes were extra! Very sad watercress served and coleslaw sour tasting. Commented to waitress but no come back!
Room was "cosy" as expected...not huge but sufficient with all facilities. Breakfast was good. Swimming pool good as no one else in! Parking good. Excellent location in centre of Grasmere. Very quiet

United KingdomWe wanted Pepsi max from the bar one night, it wasn’t available. We could only get small bottles of Diet Coke. Also the range of beers was very limited, I don’t recollect any “real ales” nor any local beers.
Breakfast was Ok. The staff weren’t exactly engaging - polite but not friendly. The food was reasonably well cooked, but the eggs, fried or poached were variable in quality. There was also adequate but less choice of cereals etc than at Stone Cross Manor, Kendal that was a lot cheaper and we had stayed the two days before.

United KingdomI cannot think of anything we did not like.
We were allocated a room at the front of the hotel with a view over the village. The room was large and well furnished with a huge bed. Breakfasts were enjoyable. There was a good variety of cooked dishes available. The Cumbrian breakfast and the smoked haddock with porched eggs were particularly nice. We stayed for seven nights and on three occasions we dined at the hotel in the evening, again, a varied choice of dishes all of which we enjoyed. Since the Covid pandemic other hotels we have stayed at have suffered from lack of staff. Not so the Wordsworth. The reception, room service and particularly the restaurant were well served by friendly, professional and helpful staff. We liked the fact that when you go down to breakfast room service are informed and your room is sorted whilst you dine. The hotel is located in the centre of Grasmere. We will definitely stay at the Wordsworth again.
