there wasn’t any hot hotel

when we arrived we had a warm welcome from staff and also customers. It was in a nice location and near the beach which was a lovely walk.

Could have done with updating the bathroom and room. Carpet in room was a little stained and room was freezing I had to cuddle my daughter most of night to keep her warm. Cold tap in sink was interesting and had to turn a lot before it would run.

The staff/owners were so lovely was a nice place to stay. The breakfast was lovely too definitely got me ready for the day.

My room was directly above the lounge bar so it was a bit noisy, but I wear earplugs anyway so it didn’t really affect my stay.

Great location on the main street. Helpful and welcoming staff who were very accommodating. The decor is a bit dated but everything was spotlessly clean. The breakfast was fantastic.

The room didn't look like the photos on the website. We found it very quirky, a bit like staying in grandma's house from many years ago however the room wasn't a fair reflection of the website. The bathroom was extremely dated, cracked sink, filthy curtain/window . We're not fussy at all and hate to be unkind when the hosts were so lovely but also want to give a fair feedback of the accommodation.

The hosts were lovely, very friendly and the breakfast was great. The location was also perfect, right in the centre of town.

Noise from the main road- looked like there was once secondary glazing as one point with only the carcass remaining. Carpet in bathroom and poorly fitted panelling around the bath, dirty carpet in bedroom and no tea/ coffee/milk refills.

Staff couldn’t have been any better and tried to accommodate where they could. No noise within the building despite being above the lounge. Free WiFi Plenty hot water for a nice bath

The room we had could do with a bit of updating, peeling paint in the bathroom and windowsills, also the wallpaper in the bedroom was peeling off. Mattress was a bit uncomfortable, leaned to one side. Very 70’s vibe, yes, we’re old enough to remember the 70’s! Next time, we will ask for a room further away from the passage we overlooked, as it was quite noisy.

This was probably the best breakfast we have ever had at a B&B! If you’re looking for the best full Scottish, you simply can’t go wrong at the imperial. Also, the staff were so friendly and helpful. Right from the minute we walked in the door, they were lovely!

The windows in the room would neither open or close; not a problem for me but could be a problem later in the year. People suggest the hotel needs updating. Maybe, but increased prices would be inevitable and Castle Douglas does not need such a hotel. Perhaps at the least, the photos of golfers could be updated! Beware of the pub next door at the weekends, can get rowdy but note it has not been part of this hotel for decades.

The hotel is clean, quiet and comfortable. An excellent stay for a value for money base to explore the beautiful area, or just for one night. It’s not really a hotel; more a licensed B&B. Suited me, as I like to explore and there are at least 4 excellent restaurants within walking distance. Breakfast was excellent, good quality ingredients cooked well and pleasantly served. All you need.
