Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United StatesThe parking situation is frustrating. We rented a car, and while the car park (St James) was very safe, it was a 15 minute walk (about 2/3 mile). We ate dinner one night at the restaurant, and while the service was top-notch, I thought the food was just "average", and not a good value for the price.
Loved the location to the Royal Mile. Loved the outdoor balcony and the views from there. Thought the layout of the room was clever - it wasn't large, but had everything could want or need in a good spot.

United StatesAmazing style and "atmosphere" at this hotel. Staff was very friendly and helpful, genuinely seemed like they wanted to help. Room was beautiful, well laid out, good mini bar, comfortable bed and amazing view (castle view room). Location is even better than the hotel itself. Walk out the door and right to the main old town area attractions. One thing to note, TAKE A TAXI if arriving from the train station. We say it was a short distance and decided to walk it with our suitcases, which lead to us lugging out bags up countless staircases. Taxi back to the station at the end of the trip was only $5.....So just take the taxi haha.

United StatesOur original room was loud, poorly exposed and poorly appointed so I would make sure to get a better room but once you have a great room the whole experience is fabulous!
The hotel is gorgeous, as are all its various common rooms (lounges, bars, corridors, etc) and the staff is absolutely wonderful, from the concierge to the bar to the front door,…everyone. When we had some challenges with our original room they changed it and did so with so much wonderful care and attention. And the location is incredible. You can’t beat it!

BelgiumI found empliyees at the reception unusually unfriendly . One day before our check out, i had my birthday. When we checked out next day, we left our bags in the hotel. I said to the lady on the reception, that we had flowers in one big bag. She promissed to take care of the bag... When we came for the bags, a bag with flowers was sqweezed betwin a suitecase and a backpsck. Naturally, half of flowers were broken. This spoiled a bir the imoression from the hotel.
The hotel has an exceptional location. It is a htstoric building right in the heart of Edinburg. Big rooms, though unusually set up. Very helpfull consierge guys We will definitely come back.
