This isn't a big deal, but it seemed there were a few things we didn't take advantage of because we didn't know about them until our last day. For instance, the outdoor terrace level. It would be nice to have a little informative brochure or list with all of the amenities upon checking into the room.

Excellent location. Everywhere we wanted to go was within walking distance to the hotel. The size/lay-out of the chamber-style room felt spacious. The gym facility was convenient and well-supplied with everything I needed. There was a yoga mat in our room for our use. The Commons Club bar was classy and elegant with excellent service and drinks. The outdoor terrace level in the hotel was relaxing and provided gorgeous views. The staff was very friendly, personable and helpful. They wrote a personalized "happy birthday" message on one of the smaller mirrors in our room which was a nice touch!

Nothing we loved our stay!

Everything was clean and comfortable and centrally located within the city. I called ahead to let them know it was our anniversary and the staff set up a nice welcome message with whisky, chocolates, fruit! Would definitely stay again!

1) Phones in the room didn’t work properly 2) Sometimes orders put thru the tv didn’t go thru (or the housekeeping didnt check it downstairs?) I will still rate this hotel 10/10 tho

1) Hands down the staff! The gentleman in the concierge have been super helpful and welcoming! The waiters/waitresses in both restaurants were superb and fun to have a chat with! 2) Hotel’s general cleanliness is impeccable and well kept 3) Everything looks and is luxurious 4) The beds are veery comfortable and the room design is amazing (as if you got two rooms) 5) the amenities are of high quality

Bedroom area a little cramped. A lot of street noise in lower room but they moved us.

Great location. Wonderful staff, extremely helpful throughout trip, especially Martin and Olga. Seperate desk area meant i could sleep in while my husband worked. Lots of restaurants nearby. Great lighting in room!

Only one minor disappointment: We both found the mattress too soft (prefer a firmer one). Seemed surprising as we find most comparable hotels to have very comfortable / firmer mattresses.

Everything was perfect

The location of the hotel was the best we could imagine! It is very close to Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Mile street. Everything is near the Hotel, you can go everywhere worth on foot. The hotel is very clean, with beautiful places inside. The room we stayed was very nice, clean, with nice mini bar and awesome bed, the most comfortable bed we have ever slept on! The whole staff were so kind and friendly! They helped us with anything we needed. Natalia and Yannis, who are Greek as we are, were of the most kind people working in the hotel. Moreover, we were lucky enough to watch live music on Saturday night by a wonderful band, while eating dinner in the hotel restaurant.

Beautiful hotel, old building very well refurbished. Rooms are big with the nice view and little balconies. The hotel itself has 2 entrances in different streets very well located in the heart of the old town. Both bar and restaurants had a good quality food and drinks and service. And the rooftop terrace is magnificent.

Only quibble was noise from street in early hours (3am) of people coming back from a club but it's a city centre location so to be expected to a point

The Elm room was clearly multi purpose being a bar at night. It was beautifully decorated and furnished but better suited to being a bar. The chairs were a little low for eating comfortably. My husband felt the hot food was actually rather cold. He was right but I didn't mind this. Both mornings we had a grab a waiter to order our tea and toast, which was slightly disappointing.

The choice at breakfast was excellent and all very good quality.

Quirky but modern Exceptionally clean Location Staff

The parking situation is frustrating. We rented a car, and while the car park (St James) was very safe, it was a 15 minute walk (about 2/3 mile). We ate dinner one night at the restaurant, and while the service was top-notch, I thought the food was just "average", and not a good value for the price.

Loved the location to the Royal Mile. Loved the outdoor balcony and the views from there. Thought the layout of the room was clever - it wasn't large, but had everything could want or need in a good spot.
