How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

They obviously have issues with the fabric of the building with evidence of leaks in the main dining room & our room & bathroom

The parking situation was an issue. £7.50 a day and unfortunately you are not guaranteed a space as it is first come first serve which is not good on busy days!
The location was incredibly good and the room was huge! We also were given a balcony room which had beautiful views of the lake.

The up sales upon arrival. £20 for a room with a view. £50 holding retainer per room (we had 2 rooms paid for four months prior to arrival) and £7.50 for parking for one night. Payable on departure.
View from the outside patio is hard to surpass Very pleasant staff. Comfo beds. Very clean room

The car park was a mess. Spaces were not marked out, so inconsiderate people had parked half a car's length away from the wall or the next car. So other people just had to park wherever they could. To add insult to injury, the hotel charged £7.50 per night for parking. This wasn't mentioned on my booking confirmation e-mail and, if it's mentioned on the website, I can't find it.
Good location. Food was nice. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful. Room was comfortable.

The room wasn't as perfect as it looked from photos. The floorboards were awful in our room, no matter where we moved to it creeked. We feel so bad for the people staying below us as they probably were woken up a handful of times.
We loved the breakfast, the bedroom was so spacious and the staff were lovely.

Parking was limited. Should do free parking. More choice for breakfast. Need proactive staff.
The room. The property. The room was very beige. Facilities was good child friendly, two tvs, good location. Could have done with attention to finer detail cleaning. Customer service on following up with queries.

We had a problem with the shower not draining away, which we complained about on the first day,, but nothing done until we complained the second day. We were offered an alternative room but it was fixed. This spoiled the whole experience as we could only use it for a minute before it started overflowing.
Breakfast satisfying and good quality. Room was quiet and large. Staff very helpful on the phone prior to arrival.

Great location and beautiful views over the lake. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good and the restaurant has a lovely atmosphere.

We have stayed a few times and the only negative comments we’ve ever had towards it are the staff. They don’t look up or acknowledge you when you come in (the desk is about a metre away from the door) they’re very short with you when you do speak, give you the bare minimum conversation, no asking how your stay was on check out or anything. We overheard a conversation with another guest in the reception in which the member of staff was very short and snappy with them. It hasn’t stopped us coming back as we never have reason to speak much with the staff as we tend to be out for the duration of the stay but it would be nice to get a smile or a hello upon entering, checking in or even so much as a thankyou for staying have a nice day when you leave. For such a lovely hotel it’s something that really lets it down.
Perfect location, bedrooms are spacious and clean really get your moneys worth there and the breakfasts are lovely, you can really tell the food is fresh.

Room allocated was more money for lake veiw but room above noise from other rooms so transparent as old building. Disappointed of the early start workmen or inconsiderate guests from early as 6 am!!( the later in this case). Really nice hotel
