The room was 'ok'. Great size, clean and a comfortable bed but a bit on the tired side otherwise. On check in I was asked to leave a £50 deposit because I didn't have a 'physical' card with me to preauthorise and despite me explaining I wouldn't be eating or drinking at the hotel (if I was, I would just pay as I went along anyway). I was told the deposit from my card would take up to a week to be refunded, which is frustrating given the circumstances above.

The location is fantastic - views over Lake Windereme and the fells are breathtaking regardless of the weather or time of year. It's a short walk into Bowness where there's plenty of shops, bars and restaurants so it's super convenient. The bar area and restaurant looked nice too.

Breakfast was nice but would have liked some tomatoes & fried bread. Also we were expecting some potato cakes or similar. However, what we had was good. Thank you.

The room was lovely & the TV worked well. Location was ideal for us as we had a boat to clean on the lake.

we stayed in a room on the ground floor , great view of the lake but opened the blinds in the morning to see a dog doing its business right in front of the window at room level . There was not much space in our room , compared to another family members room which i’d booked as a single room, however they didn’t have a lake view .

    beautiful views and great location

The location for us was not good some areas of the hotel badly need attention our bathroom had a nasty smell from the drains. Window sill paint peeling off and dirty windows inside A child running up and down the corridor screaming it's head off whilst trying to have a quiet early evening before we went for dinner. Menu is very basic more like pub grub although we had the fish which was very nice. Breakfast everything was cold bacon too tough to eat eggs hard coffee cold *out of a machine* One of the guys serving afternoon tea on our arrival when asked *where is the lift*? Don't know ask at reception his first language wasn't English however, he spoke and understood English perfectly..we had been directed to the lift by Lynne but being our first time we misunderstood and didn't expect a member of staff not to know where the lift was located. Needs a lesson in customer service The photo is the ceiling of the restaurant most places looked the same

Lynn on reception was exceptional very friendly professional nothing too much trouble. Natasha was absolutely lovely too, the bed was very comfortable and clean quality bathrobes and towels

The breakfast offered lots of choice but the cooked breakfast wasn’t hot and this was made worse by the plates being cold. Plenty of drinks choice though. It was a little noisy early in the morning but realise this is not the staff. We would have liked to know that the hotel sat up a steep hill.

The room was beautifully clean with complimentary drinks and toiletries. Staff were very welcoming.

Felt our room was very poky, we were on the lower floor as we had a dog, carpet was torn and room just didn’t seem that clean. Very noisy at the moment with builders arriving early morning then trucks picking up bottles were noisy too. Having to pay for dog and car parking upped the price quite a bit. But overall we had a great stay.

Beautiful views, restaurant great good choice and breakfast was delicious with a good mix. Bed comfy and shower very good. Staff extremely friendly and helpful.

Tired carpets in corridors and stair wells, chipped and damaged paint work and some poor workmanship in the rooms probably by the in house maintenance team.
