Quite noisy. The first evening we could hear guests in the pub until quite late and as we had jet lag an early night was out of the question. The second night it was the staff leaving after their shifts running and thundering down the stairs.

Really large room and bathroom, very comfortable. Super close to the Cathedral and town centre. Great breakfast.

Wi fi a bit hit and miss, bathroom floor potentially slippery, not much point having a phone in room if never answered…..suggest you link to a message recorder, so staff can answer queries when they Have time.

Everything was top notch….could write a book! The Whykeham was my watering hole when I worked in Winchester 40 years ago…..a delight to see it so thoughtfully upgraded.The food was incredible, if anyone moans about UK dining out….just send them to Thee Whykeham!

Bedside lamps flickered a lot, it is an old building though (part of the charm!). One night was very noisy in the pub. It is a pub though so can't be avoided really.

Very comfortable, fabulous location, very pleasant and helpful staff. Breakfast was lovely. We would happily stay again.

Everything was superb, there's not a single thing I could criticise. The room (and the entire building) was beautiful and well-appointed as well as spotlessly clean. It seemed newly refurbished and everything was shiny and working perfectly, with an added bonus of free, top-quality filter coffee and chocolate biscuits. Both the evening meal and breakfast were perfect and the staff accommodated all of my requests without question. Amazing ❤️

For the first time ever supper was underwhelming. We ordered roasts when we checked in at 3, for the evening at 7. This was of course a basic schoolgirl error on my part.

Wonderful Staff, warm welcome, friendly and professional. Tasteful quality and decor in spacious quiet well fitted room. Clean very comfortable bed and pillows. Bath and Shower available, fluffy white towels and ample lovely Bramleys soaps etc provided. Great coffee and fresh milk.

The little fridge in the room is quite loud but you can turn it off at the wall to solve the problem. Other than that it's great.

Staff went above an beyond to help. I was leaving before breakfast was served so they left me a plate of breakfast by my door that evening so that I could have it in the morning before I left to walk the South Downs Way.

just a few sheets of toilet paper in bathroom, I asked for more but received none Evening meal was poor, one piece of carrot and parsnip, chicken and gravy very bland, red cabbage had no flavour. £32.00 for one plate of poor quality food, also many other customer plates were returned with food left on them Breakfast, eggs benedict, only just warm and tasting of too much vinegar

Narrow stairs to rooms but nothing unusual for a British pub stay!

Perfect location for exploring Winchester. Our room was extremely well appointed. Very comfortable bed and all provisions provided. Pub had a lovely atmosphere and both the included breakfast and the meal we had in the restaurant were of exceptional quality.

There was some evidence during this visit that some retrograde policy decisions had been made aimed at better efficiency rather than customer service, particularly during the breakfast service. We commented on this to the staff and I hope this will be reversed for our next visit. It wouldn't stop us going there atm but it could be a slippery slope if continued.

This was our 4th visit to this charming, homely pub/restaurant with rooms in the centre of Winchester. Staying there always makes a short visit to Winchester a special occasion. The staff are friendly, the food/service is outstanding and the rooms are very well appointed and decorated with real style and olde world charm, yet with modern facilities. We will keep coming back.
