The door of our room leading onto the shared balcony had warped so much it wouldn’t close properly!

Paying 10 pounds for hotel parking, would expect charge for non resident but not a paying guest. Breakfast poor quality ingredients, no chance to eat fruit and cereals before hot breakfast bought out. Waitress should wait until the guest has eaten, dishes cleared away and then hot breakfast bought out. Presentation poor....I've managed hotels since 1994 and it's the little things that help make a hotel comfortable

Thre was a renovation work nearby or something thept making noices. There werent electirc plugs were far away from the bed

Breakfast was really good plenty of choice and good service, the rooms are very comfortable but a little tired. We didn't have the best nights sleep as there was only a blind at the window which let in light either side, there was a light on outside the window at night,

The room wasn’t very big at all and incredibly dated. There are signs of years of wear and tear and it is in need of a renovation. The walls were paper thin so could hear things happening in the rooms around us. The floorboard immediately outside of our bedroom door was loud and creaky which resulted in loud noise every time somebody walked past our room which disturbed us several times in the night. The bed is in need of a new mattress, I woke up in pain after the first night. The bathroom felt dingy and like the room is in need of modernisation. There was mould in the grout in the shower. We also had to pay £10 per night to park the car however overheard one of the staff informing a wedding guest attending that day that they didn’t need to pay for parking if they weren’t staying overnight. We appreciate that not all of the above is within the hotels controls - but creaky floorboards, dated decor and modernisation is.

The exterior of the building is aesthetically pleasing. The car park is secure and the hotel is in a good location for getting into the centre of York. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the breakfast was fine.

Sorry to say but don’t order the pizzas. It was on a very thin crust that was too hard to eat. The only other choices were a 2 or 3 course meal which was very disappointing as the menu in the compendium was a lot different to the menu offered.

The room was ok,clean and comfortable. There were a lot of stairs to climb. Maybe consider getting a lift fitted at some stage for us oldies 😆.

The decor of the room could maybe be freshened up a bit although we are aware of the huge amount of work that must be involved.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The parking was excellent and the breakfast was beautiful.
