Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BrazilThe bathing area kept leaking water when we used it and the air conditioner reseted automatically to a specific temperature every few minutes, even when we turned it off.
The hotel was very beautiful and clean, breakfast was nice with variety and the room was very comfort and technologic.

United StatesPillows were large and not very soft. I asked if they had some flatter softer pillows and they did not. We declined housekeeping services for two days (we stayed three nights), but were unable to use the accumulated $10 credit for an espresso on departure, as it had to be used the day it was accumulated. The staff was not accommodating in that request at all. The room could use some additional hooks on some of the spaces near the bathroom. We were always looking for more places to hang something.
Breakfast was good but very crowded

GreeceThe cleaning process is not ideal. We stayed 5 days and chose to "go green" and had the room cleaned only on the third day. Although we left the room at 9 in the morning and put the "clean the room" sign, when we returned at 13:30 the room was not cleaned. We politely asked to tell the cleaning lady to clean our room with priority (since we were the only ones waiting in the lobby), mentioning that we just returned from a 4 1/2 hours walk and all our towels were on the floor and we had an ironic response "I will go on and do the priority cleaning for our VIP guests". Despite the irony, we got new towels and new bed sheets (and no cleaning) in just 3 minutes, so we were OK. The bed has a large table on the one side with able place to put things and 2 plugs, but nothing on the other side. I found this arrangement a bit inconvenient, but despite of that the room is fine.
The location is perfect since the hotel is near the old town and everything is within walking distance. There is a supermarket nearby (500 meters away), a variety of local pubs and bars very close (from 300 meters to 1.5 km) and everything one would like to visit (Castle, Royal Mile, all three Galeries, Scott monument, Princes gardens, Dean Village, Circus Lane) is within walking distance -you may see some photos of what my drone saw in these places. The bed was very comfortable and the room had a large TV and many plugs (unfortunately not on both sides of the bed). The room was quiet enough and had sunblock shades.

CanadaWe weren’t aware that the showers opened up directly into the room which was odd, especially right in front of the main room door. It definitely had a party, young-crowd vibe that made us feel a bit out of place and we were originally worried about the noise level when we arrived.
Despite there being a lot of parties appearing to happen, we didn’t hear anything while in our room.

United KingdomThe wife is a bit patchy. It was okay for me as I did not need to spend a lot time in the hotel to work. But for working people, the wifi might not be too weak. The bed can be elevated on the head side which I see it a bit of a redundant design because people stay in Yotel (i think majority) will not spend a lot time in the hotel watching TV :-) Breakfast area is a bit too small and it gets really crowded around 830, but the breakfast was okay so I don't complain. The only thing i was not quite happy about is, there is no kettle in the room. I don't know if I can ask for one from the reception but it would be an extra hassle to do so which i would rather not when I am tired and just want to have a bit of warm drink.
The hotel is very close to my office which is on the hill street so it worked for me very well. The room is big and clean. It has every essential I need. Iron, hair dryer etc. Overall I would stay again for work purpose.

United StatesEverything was great
At Yotel you can check in on one of their computers or have front desk staff check you in. The hotel is in a nice location in New Town. I didnt check out the facilities there but they did have a nice lounge area to sit and relax with a coffee or tea. It looks like it had a bar that opened later in the day. This was the fifth hotel that I stayed in on my two week trip to the UK and it was so comfortable. I had a very early flight the next day and I was bummed about that because I would have loved to sleep in that room alot longer. The bed was so comfortable and the room had a large TV . The lighting was cool, you could choose colored lights. I chose dark pink. I had been out all day so when I checked in to my room around 6 pm I stayed in til I had to leave for my flight at 3am. The shower was a walk-in, not a high entry tub like at a few places I stayed. The water pressure was good and I was so relaxed afterwards. My stay was short but I would stay at Yotel in Edinburgh or any other city.

United KingdomOur room had no window which was a little claustrophobic but maybe wouldn't bother most people. The bed could be controlled to be flat or inclined for sitting which I think made it a little uncomfortable. Found the breakfast a little underwhelming but was reasonably priced and still a handy option for getting out early and not spending time finding somewhere to eat.
Location is perfect for exploring the city and for handy transport to and from airport. Staff were helpful and pleasant, bar area very nice.

United KingdomExcellent location in the quieter New Town but still very close to Princes Street and the shops. Even closer is George Street, which has a large choice of good restaurants and bars. We used the tram for an easy transfer from and to the airport and the nearest tram stop is less than a ten minute walk from the hotel. The hotel itself is very modern and the room, and the public area, was spotlessly clean. The bed was very comfortable with an unusual feature of being able to tilt the top of it to form a comfortable seating option, as there are no chairs in the room. The bathroom area was also unusual with an open entrance to the bedroom but the glass partitions and doors to the toilet and shower gave enough privacy. The shower was excellent. We had breakfast throughout our stay and the choice was very good - we enjoyed it.

United KingdomWe had to use an NCP car park, which although we received discount cards from the hotel, was still expensive and quite far away. Our room was great but next to the lifts, which were very squeaky and prone to wake us up.
Our room was clean, had air conditioning, mood lighting and an electric bed. The shower was powerful and hot. It was easy to access local restaurants and places of interes.

RomaniaThe air-conditioning: it constantly was working and the draft bothered us - The toilet didn't get you much privacy - The window was sealed and there was no option of opening it.
The location is about 15 min easy walk to the Old Town and closer to the shopping streets and Dean Village. - The staff was helpful and you have complementary coffee water and tea in the lobby - They kept our luggage for a couple of hours after the check-out without any charge which was a big plus for us - The bed was really nice because it had an automatic recliner which made it more comfortable - The tv had the option to cast from your phone through Chromecast
