Our stay was half board and the buffet was extremely generous with lots of choices but there were a few things that could have been improved as follows: 1. Far too much salt in a lot of the dishes (both hot and cold). An example was the cabbage one evening which was simply inedible because of the amount of salt in it. 2. Although there was a stunning display of desserts each night which looked fabulous, they didn’t always translate to great desserts on the palate. Far too many desserts with far too much gelatine. The chocolate mousse was particularly awful, very grainy, thick and heavy the first few days and then we made a passing comment to one of the waiters and he said he would pass the feedback on. Well, the next night the chocolate mousse’s consistency was perfect, silky smooth and luscious but the balance between the egg whites and the chocolate were completely out of whack, so much so that you could only taste the egg whites. We are also very familiar with Greek sweets like baklava and kataifi, etc. but we were quite disappointed with the ones on offer at the hotel. We are not the world’s biggest drinkers but we do enjoy a glass or two of wine and always choose wines by the glass, so that we can try a variety of wines. The wines by the glass weren’t of great quality and not at all enjoyable. We had some wonderful wines by the glass at some of the other resorts we’ve been staying at in Crete. Water should be free of charge with dinner! You should definitely charge for sparkling water but not for plain water! The price of non-alcoholic cocktails was identical to those with alcohol. That’s simply unacceptable. The gym should have had single paper wipes and sanitizing spray to use on the equipment that was easily accessible. We found a single bottle and an enormous roll of paper on the front desk hiding behind a large sign on our way out of the gym.

It’s location, the swimming pool, the cleanliness, and all the wonderful staff. We were also upgraded to a fabulous room which we greatly appreciated. The welcome drinks upon arrival were lovely as were the gifts on departure. We also arrived at the resort on Easter Sunday and they had the most wonderful display of ornaments, red painted eggs, chocolate eggs and Easter biscuits.

Food would require more passion to make it perfect and up for 5 stars. Good in general, but we were missing the “local Greek taverna experience”

Apart from all 10 points above, I must say that fitness room is just wonderful, clean, spacious, with all necessary equipment. Service was excellent. Upon late arrival staff took care and left us some sandwiches in the fridge. Also, because of our honeymoon, we found a fruit basket with champagne and honey desert. When I asked if they had softer pillows, as I felt my pillow was a bit too hard, they delivered to the room a soft and comfortable pillow for me straight away. Overall, everything was just perfect: cleaning, service, beach. I don’t think you need more for a perfect and relaxing vacation. We will come again! Thank you!!!

The pool was cold but it’s expected in November!

This is our second time staying at Amira hotel and it was absolutely amazing. The staff are so professional and so friendly. Our room was gorgeous, beautiful views. Our cleaner worked hard and was so lovely too. The pool is wonderful, so clean. The beach service and towel service is great. The life guard is brilliant too. Everyone’s taste is catered for at breakfast. This is a special place that we were so so sad to leave.

As mentioned, they have a great potential to become a luxury 5* resort, but need to pay attention to some details. We stayed in Junior Suite sea front (121) and we booked double bed, however we got 2 single beds and at night time, of course two single beds were sliding away from each other :)) We were very surprised that there is no hair conditioner, during the shower, water somehow (probably due to bad seal) was getting into toilet area, so floor was always wet there. Also in our room curtains must be replaced (due to some black oily spots). We did highlighted all issues during the checkout, and of course, the manager said that we should let them know straight away and this could be easely fixed for us. We do appreciate that, however during the vacation no one want to waste them time and energy on complains. Most people simply want to enjoy the vacation. :) However, we wish to Amira Luxury Resort best of luck in the future!

The friendliness of the hotel staff! The room always very clean and tidy. The breakfast and dinner buffet exceptional, especially desserts. It is a brand new resort and of course they have a great potential to become a luxury resort, just need to pay more attention to details. Based on our experience, I would say it is a very, very good 4* star hotel. However, we had a very nice stay and we did enjoy Greek hospitality very much. We love Greece and Greek people!

If I try hard to find fault it was the pool. Although the hotel has an incredible pool, unless you are not up for breakfast by 8 and by the pool by latest 9.. you won’t find a bed! We sat by the beach and walked up to the pool. Which was ok for us… but if you don’t like being by the beach make sure to have an early start otherwise you won’t find a place by the pool…. The food in the main hotel was ok. I expected better quality but all in all was fine.

A great 5star hotel. We had a room with a pool and sea view. Room was very comfortable. The staff were incredible from Luiza who greeted us with a warm smile and explained all hotel amenities and always on hand to recommend places to see, to the bell boy who was gracious and smiling to the waiters in the main restaurant and Kritimero.. Manos, Charoula and Christos. The beach is gorgeous. It’s quite rocky to get in but doable with shoes. The guys around the pool were so charming and helpful getting us beds. The hotel and surroundings are immaculate. You get access to an app. So when sitting by the pool or beach you can order food and drinks and it arrives with in minutes.. with a smile and “enjoy” 😊 We hired a car which was a blessing as weather was not great so being quite central, within 50 minutes we drove to the south of the island which was incredible. The cocktails in the bars were amazing and the evening light entertainment was very enjoyable. The 2 in-house restaurants were amazing… We ate twice in Kritamo and once in Almyra. slightly expensive but worth every penny😊

The sun didn’t come to our private pool until the end of the day so we didn’t make use of it- not too much of a problem as we were fine by the main pool.

The room was so comfortable and well equipped with modern features. Huge comfortable bed, sea view, spacious. We really loved the communal pool and all of the staff were friendly and helpful. Upgraded to a beautiful suite. Close to Rethymno which is a beautiful old town.

The pool towel rules were inconvenient and unusual for a hotel of this ranking. The beds and pillows were quite uncomfortable and the linen was scratchy such a pity as the Asthetics of the room were beautiful

One thing.. which would actually stop us returning here is the code start thudding of dance music throughout the day. You couldn’t sit on the balcony or the beach without hearing the thud. It was so irritating and ruined a couple of days holiday for us. We couldn’t even watch the sunset in quiet. The hotel tagline is serenity is by the sea. Erm not at this hotel. It is such a shame because it was by far our favourite hotel but we couldn’t get any peace of quiet.

Nothing. The only thing we could pissibly fault is the location. Few restaurants in the neighbourhood but the food in the hotel was very good so it did not matter.

The hotel is wonderful, we felt extremely welcome and the staff was very nice and attending.
