Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe had such a nice time in Hotel Amphora. The location is amazing! The hotel is right in the cozy little roads of the old town and has a great view to the charming harbour! The staff was very kind. Augustini (hopefully is spelled right) was so welcoming and made the best omelette.

United KingdomThe breakfast which we had one morning we thought was grim and not worth the money. We had been warned about noise from the bars and restaurants below but didn’t expect really loud music and singing to go on until 6am. It was like an open air nightclub. Why is it allowed?
Beautiful room with stunning views. Beautifully clean with a lovely bathroom and everything was serviced perfectly. The restaurant was good and perfectly situated on the edge of the harbour

United KingdomEverything was superb.
The ambiance and hospitality at the Amphora is outstanding. Magnificent breakfast served on the roof terrace is an amazing experience to behold. The central location means a 10 minute walk to the beach whilst also being in easy walking distance to the best restaurants. The room was quiet and cleaned everyday, an immaculate high standard of cleanliness throughout this well maintained accommodation. I will definitely stay here again.

United KingdomI had hurt my back quite badly and the staff could not have been kinder in helping me manage this. My room was stunning (what a view) and the jacuzzi was just what I needed for hydrotherapy! Immaculate, with delightful frangipani on my fresh towels, and I thought overall incredibly good value. The bed was so comfortable, even when I was in pain. Thank you for all being so kind to me.

United StatesThe breakfast was very good with lots of choices. They took it up to the rooftop for us where we could see the port. The room was their largest suite with a sitting area, extra bed and small kitchen. The whole Old Port area streets are walking streets so need to take your bag a ways but it’s worth the charm of the area. Hotel front desk staff helped us rent a car. He was very friendly.

GermanyWe found it very strange that there was no door separating the toilet from the bedroom. Also we had the bad luck that the vent from the restaurant at the front of the hotel was a bit noisy. But otherwise the hotel was fantastic and I would stay there again.
The hotel is excellently located. Breakfast on the rooftop was fantastic.

GreeceEverything was good.
The location of the hotel and the view from the terrace are certainly one of a kind. The room we stayed was really comfortable. Other guests that at their reviews are mentioning about the size of the rooms or complaining they truly need to read better before they book because when they choose the apartment they should be sure that the photos are precise. At the end of the day they can always come in contact with the hotel and the staff will be more than happy to answer and explain. This is what we actually did before we booked. We read the descriptions, we saw the photos, we came in contact with the hotel, they confirmed and that’s it! So easy, so simple. It is good to have a human approach than just living and pressing buttons. The staff is very friendly, welcoming and kind. The breakfast? Wonderful with a big variety, with local goodies. Try the local jams/marmalades. Everything, from restaurants, cafeterias, mini markets, supermarkets, bakeries, shops, are literally next door. The closest beach, at Nea Chora, that has a Blue Flag, which means sunbeds, facilities, changing rooms etc, is within 10 minutes walk. I read in some reviews of guests complaining about the parking. This is really nonsense. The hotel is a waterfront one, in the old city, at a pedestrian zone. What did they expect? To be able to park in front of the hotel? The closest public parkings are at less than 5 minutes walk! If they are full? There are more! Even if the rest are full there is always the option of free street parking. Don’t worry. Chania is a safe town. At the end of the day? The ones who complained about that? Get a life seriously and stop complaining for things like this. Remember this. It is a dream knowing that you can wake up at the heart of the old port of Chania, at a 14th century building with Venetian and Ottoman influences and at a reasonable price. We will certainly be back.

United KingdomNothing! A perfect stay.
Hotel Amphora was a wonderful choice for our three nights in Chania. The room was beautiful - recently redone with a gorgeous bath, great shower and pretty balcony with a partial view of the bay. The hotel is in a perfect location for the harbour, sights and beach. Anita and the front desk team couldn't have done more to make our stay enjoyable - they were so friendly and helpful. They arranged a taxi transfer from the airport and to our next destination, and the driver was excellent too. I'm not usually one for hotel restaurants, but the linked restaurant on the harbour front was very good - we ate there twice, both times delicious. We'll definitely stay here next time we come to Chania.

GermanyThe only thing to fault is the noise. The harbour is always busy until late, so you can hear the music and people from outside. And as its an old house you can also hear floors creek when people move inside. But with ear plugs it's not really an issue.
Beautiful view from the terrace. The house itself is really old with a great character and high ceilings. We had breakfast included which was a small buffet of local products. As its right in the center of the old town, all the main sights are in easy walking distance and you can book tours further away with the hotel. The room was clean and they cleaned the room daily as well. All the staff were friendly and eager to help out with any questions you might have.
