Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesTo make the room a little more comfortable it would have been nice to have carpeting near the bed. Also we had booked a junior suite with a garden view and balcony, but the balcony really only looked out at the building next door.
Overall, the visit to the Ava Hotel was wonderful. The breakfast was great, the staff, friendly and helpful, the room was large and the location was perfect. The back entrance to the Acropolis was two or three minutes away. We had no line to enter at 5:30 for a sunset climb. The Plaka with its pedestrian streets and restraurants, also two minutes away, and well at the Acropolis museum.

United StatesEverything was excellent. We did not try breakfast as we cooked a bit in our kitchenette.
Location was fantastic, room was exceptional and comfortable. We got the executive room which had a bedroom with balcony and a large living room with island with kitchenette and a pull up sofa bed. It was great for 2 adults and 2 children aged 13 and 7. We really enjoyed our time here. Vassia in the front desk really made an impression on us and was warm, inviting and made us feel comfortable immediately on arriving and throughtout our stay.

United StatesOur stay at AVA was definitely too SHORT! XAXAXA
We began staying at AVA Hotel on our annual trips to Greece about 5 years ago (2018). I initially found AVA using the Trip Advisor ratings. It's a small little "boutique hotel" in Athens, over near Hadrian's Arch. AVA hotel has become our "home in Athens" each year. We have a routine - we fly into Athens on Saturday afternoon, get to the hotel, and then go out to dinner. Sunday morning we get up, have breakfast, and begin our trip by going to the 11th century church of St Katherine's - which is about 200 feet away, down the street. We generally get a Jr. Suite overlooking Lysistratou (the front of the hotel). The view from the balcony is incredible - To the left is Hadrian's Arch, to the right is the Acropolis. After dropping our luggage, the family generally goes out onto the balcony - sees Hadrian's Arch, and says, "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH....home again!" The staff is wonderful, the rooms are large and clean, and the beds are the BEST! A great way to begin your Greece adventure. And don't overlook the breakfast! They've had the same person running the kitchen for 5 years (Vassiliki). She is just solid GOLD! The breakfasts are extraordinary...and a great way to get everyone together to review the program for the day. We generally measure ALL BREAKFASTS in Greece by comparing them to AVA. For the next couple weeks, each morning we hear, "Better than AVA....nah!" Each year when we come home, the family tells me, "Adjust whatever else you want in our trip next year - JUST NOT AVA." My congratulations to the management of the hotel You have done something remarkable....year after year after year! BRAVO!!!

AustraliaUnfortunately a fair bit of internal noise from adjoining and upper rooms. We could hear people talking late at night in room nextdoor, taps being turned on, and footsteps above. Not great if you’re a light sleeper.
Comfy room. Grear location with short walk to south slope of Acropolis and many other ancient sites. Completely soundproof from street noise.

United StatesThey were oddly stingy with bath linens. In particular, when I found no washcloths in the bathroom, I requested some and was given only one and pretty much told that was all I needed! And that was after the staff person inspected the bathroom to make sure I wasn't lying about having none!
Boutique hotel with a great location, low key, close to pretty much everything. Room was a true suite, with living room, kitchenette, large bedroom, 2-sink bathroom. Only stayed one night but would be great for a longer stay.

United StatesThis hotel is in a perfect location if you have little time to explore the city. It was literally a 3 min walk to the entrance to the Acropolis and Museum. Close to great little restaurants coffee shops and souvenir shops as well! The room was spacious and looked fairly similar to the photos. Our plane was majorly delayed so we weren’t able to take the car they had arranged for us but that worked just fine. We used Uber in Athens for our whole trip and it was the same as it is in the US. Our only suggestion is ask to not be placed in the room on the first floor. It was right next to the kitchen and very loud first thing in the morning. The staff were all very helpful and friendly.
