Could do with more signage when reaching the hotel. Where to park/check in. Proximity of stables.

We booked here because we wanted peace and quiet for a couple of days. This hotel delivers that in spades. Spectacular views, helpful personal, good, plentiful food, breakfast with a view, comfortable bed. Despite the undulating paths my husband with his reduced mobility managed it all. There was an offer of a golf cart and the personal were always on hand to offer help if we needed it. I saw the drive up the track as a prelude for what was to come, it slowed everything down. Whilst it looks scary when you first drive onto it, take a deep breath, it is in fact easy going as long as you go slow.....what a great way to start a much needed holiday. 😊

It was so wonderful to get out of the oppressive heat of the Cretan coast. The hotel lies at around 350m above sea level on the slope of a mountain. The air is notably fresher up there. The view from the restaurant and the terrace of our room were amazing. We had a beautiful room with a very comfortable bed. The pool area was great. The dinner at the restaurant was delicious.

I didn’t realize when booking that the place would be so away from everything (at least a 20-30 min ride if you want to go to a village different that the one down the hotel) I would avoid this place if you want to enjoy Cretan beaches as it’s at least a 40 min ride But mostly the road accessing to the hotel is very rough. It is suitable for any car but driving super slow.

The view is incredible, the nature around the place is beautiful and potent, ideal if you want to discover the country side Staff is helpful and welcoming Pool is nice Room is comfy and bathroom is big

Stunning place to stay, the rooms were lovely with everything we needed. The restaurant is excellent with very friendly and welcoming staff, reasonably priced as well and very good food We stayed with our dogs and there are lots of walks from the hotel. Will definitely revisit

such a gorgeous property and hidden gem in Crete. away from all the hustle and bustle with everything at your fingertips available at the property so you can just unwind and relax. my husband and I have been travelling around Europe for past few months and Velani was exactly what we needed to relax. the room was stunning with picturesque views, hot tub spa and expert masonry craftsmanship. the best place we have stayed at by far. the owners will make you feel welcome and treat you like family. thank you Manolis for your hospitality and going above and beyond for us.

Lovely property in the hills above Avdou. Great view, exceptional food. Owners are incredibly welcoming and hard-working. Rooms were some of the best appointed we had in all of Greece.

Nothing.. It’s true the road last 2km is bumpy but driving slow- no issues.

We were welcomed by the owners and promptly checked in. The room was amazing with very cozy and inviting decor. Views from the room balcony breathtaking. Room was very clean. We had amazing dinner in the hotel and spent some time in the pool as well. We also did hill treck to the cave with chapel inside- really great views! We had also delicious breakfast.. In all 10/10 and the place should have 4 stars at least!

Everything made with a lot of heart. Interior authentic and fabulous! Jacuzzi and private yard with open air shower was amazing. View-perfect. We changed our plans just to be able to absorb this perfect harmony feeling.

We had high expectations given the rating of the hotel. Getting to the hotel through 2km dirt road is a real inconvenience (especially with rental car that typically has no insurance for ‘dirt roads’). The horses on the property are lovely, but the smell of the staples during breakfast and dinner can be unpleasant. Finally, given the price point, we would have expected more attention to detail in the rooms (eg real wood materials for the furniture) and better hygiene (especially, in the bathroom).

The views in this region are spectacular. Waling up to this beauty is an incredible experience. At night, the sky is full of stars! The breakfast was abundant and delicious, with a wide variety of options. The British lady serving the breakfast was very friendly!

Only one pool out od three (as advertised,) was working. The restaurant is ok but don't expect local cretan food, rather a touristic version of it. Also prices are higher then in other tavernas. There is a great local taverna in the nearby village that we used to drive to, just 8min away.

Great horse riding center. Nice design. Very clean rooms. Comfortable beds. Nice pool with comfortable sunbeds. Nice views.
