Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FinlandYou really need a car to go around, but otherwise is great if you accept that.
The cleanliness, the warm welcome and tips from the manager, and the details and care in the room. The cottages are quite private and peaceful, with a stunning view towards the sea.

SwitzerlandWe had a wonderful 7-night stay at the Koutsounari Traditional Cottages, it couldn't have been more perfect! The cottages are managed by Ioanna, a charming host who runs the property with love and dedication. She warmly welcomed us, serving homemade lemonade during check-in while providing us with a list of recommendations for eating out and sightseeing in the area. We tried almost all the tavernas she suggested and enjoyed each one of them. The cottage, exemplifying traditional local architecture, has been beautifully restored with attention to every detail. It offers everything you need, including comfortable beds, a small but well-equipped kitchen, and even a lovely set of welcoming gifts and complimentary Korres toiletries in the bathroom. The highlight is the stunning private terrace that overlooks the Libyan Sea, making you want to stay there forever! If you appreciate local tradition and seek a more unique and sustainable experience compared to a typical hotel room, you will likely love this super charming accommodation as much as we did. Thank you, Ioanna, and thank you, Crete, for a wonderful time!

GermanyWould have been nice to have a working fireplace for darker, rainy windy days.
Charming place to spend few days away from the crowd. Stylish restauration of traditional cottages, yet kept simple, and with all necessary comfort to feel welcome and well taken care of. We had cottage ‘Mikro’ with a fabulous view over the sea and olive trees. Kitchen small, albeit very well equipped. Korres toiletries in the bathroom (appreciated). Ioanna, the efficient and equally charming manager, gives soul to the place and share her recommendations of restaurants and things to see - she is a fine connoisseur of the region. ❤️ If you have few days to spare, stay there!

NetherlandsNothing! Keep in mind that is easiest if you have a car to get around. You can walk to some places and there are bus stops, but it really is a more quiet location (which is exactly what you will enjoy here :-) ).
Koutsounari Cottages are great for a special kind of getaway that will give you calm and peace of mind. The cottage was very atmospheric and giving you a glimpse to old times, yet has all the modern amenities you need. It is also tastefully decorated with some Greek hints and little pieces of art. The owner Ioanna is a very warm and welcoming person with genuine interest in you as guests and can give you lots of tips for the region. She showed us around the cosy cottage and had water and a delicious homemade marmelade ready in our fridge :-) We also enjoyed exploring unspoilt beaches on the beautiful south-Cretan coast.

GermanyThis was one of the most perfect little pieces of paradise on Crete. Ioanna was lovely to us and her staff was incredibly helpful. This is a great location for moving around this region and very quiet. The terraces and gardens were perfect for relaxing and our kiddos loved running around. The kitchens are very well equipped and the bathrooms are very nice. If there were breakfast offered this place would rate an 11/10, would definitely be happy to pay extra for this service. We loved sitting outside on the terrace to eat breakfast and inside at night to hang out when it got chilly. This is truly a magical place to stay in Crete with real charm and a great host.

United KingdomThe place looks already amazing on the pictures but is even better in reality. We had a very warm welcome from Ionna who told us about places to see, eat and explore. I don't think you could do any better. The apartment has a wonderful terrace. It's a beautifully renovated traditional cottage house with everything you could wish for incl. fresh flowers, delicious welcome presents and a very lovely shower. Unfortunately, we haven't tried the pool, there were just too many other great things to do... We will definitely come back, thanks so much. Jess & Jarek

United KingdomNothing - but you do need a car. There are 2 traditional tavernas in walking distance but there are many others up and down the coast you will want to explore!
The sea view cottage was so simply and beautifully decorated inside - and the terrace was a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the view. Having use of the pretty hotel pool (a short drive uphill) was a godsend when the temperature got to the high 30s!

The individual houses are very special. A great mixture between tradition and modern amenities. We had a cottage with a beautiful view to the sea. Ioanna is a perfect host and provided us a super internet connection so that we were able to attend an online conference from there. Koutsounari is a perfect location to visit beautiful beaches, interesting sights, great restaurants and the city of Ierapietra is very close.

We were amazed by the cottages' architecture and how every tiny detail was taken care of. They are ideal for everyone - friends, couples or families. The location is also fantastic, quite and very close and accessible to beautiful and clean beaches as well as to nice taverns. We highly recommend koutsounari traditional cottages and we look forward to return.
