Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BulgariaSadly, the location was not the best for us, as we didn’t have a car. We quite liked “Perissa” beach but to get there without a car meant to book taxi every day(be prepared, that they are quite expensive in Santorini). The second option was by changing two buses but the 15 minutes ride by taxi would take us nearly 2 hours as there was long gap between both buses. It is extremely hot at that time of year and there are barely any trees to give shade on the bus stops. Also, if you prefer to walk, be prepared to do so on the busy main road as there are no pavements at all. You need to bring as well your own towels or get towels from the hotel for an extra charge. There is lots to do in Santorini such as catamaran trip, bus tour highlights of Santorini with wine tasting and sunset in Oia etc but if you prebook ahead of your visit to Santorini, you can get them for much more reasonable price.
Hotel was pristine clean. Towels and bed sheets were changed every other day. Breakfast was good quality, although the variety stayed the same. Pool was clean and pleasant. Food in the restaurant was good, although we ate there only occasionally. The famous Red beach is 30 minutes walk from the hotel. Also, quite close is the Akrotiri museum, which is worth visiting, if you’re interested.

United KingdomThe only thing I didn't like is that we didn't have a choice in what we ate as the buffet was very limited and dinner was determined by the hotel meaning some foods were kind of repeated which we disliked and in the end we were sick of the same starters.
The hotel was good and in a good location , and near the famous Red Beach and another, which provided a good view. I also kostas is really helpful and friendly and all the staff as they were nice and kind throughout my stay, which made my stay quite nice and comfortable.

Close to the wedding venue. Market & atm next door. Breakfast good!

United KingdomThe added extras - you pay 3 euros for a pool towel and the price of the airport transfer seems higher than other quoted prices.
The tranquility of the hotel - set by the village in Akratori. You can walk to the archeological site and red beach The pool is clean. I would recommend that the hotel consider putting an outside shower by the pool so that swimmers can use before entering the pool. The buffet breakfast was plentiful and had a variety of items on offer. The hotel was very clean and towels were changed daily. The rooms were airy and had pleasant terraces.

United KingdomOn our first day we were summoned by the receptionist to see the manager, Kostas. (The experience reminded us of The Apprentice with Kostas being Alan Sugar.) We did not want or need the 'travel agency' advice given, nor the cash only payment expectations, with premium added, for cars, boat trips and transfers etc. We were then no longer of any interest to the management team. The pool bar and cafe closed from 2.30 until 6.30 every afternoon. However buying drinks and refreshments from the well stocked mini market next door to drink by the pool was not allowed and at times led to admonishment. Constructive reviews are not well accepted.
Spotlessly clean hotel. Very comfy bed and the pool was fab. Breakfast and restaurant very good. Akrotiri is a lovely and interesting village. Short walks get you to the castle, the beach and an amazing experience at the excavations of an ancient city. Local restaurants, mini markets and a few gift shops were very handy. More bars and restaurants down at the sea front, with boat trips to the red, white and black beach were excellent. A great bus service runs hourly from Akrotiri to Fira and public transport was very reliable.

RomaniaThe food was mediocre to horrendous. The breakfast was decent, although it was the same for 7 days straight. Instead, the dinner was a total failure (and by all means, I'm not a picky person) — hospital-like dishes and portions, very oily and fat, with no taste. Poorly cooked. Very disappointed by that. We also found human hair on some nights. I know the kitchen lady is working hard, but unfortunately, the hotel owner should do some changes and keep that food for people that like that kind of food. From this standpoint, we felt a bit ripped off, to be honest. Also, another thing would be the interaction with the business owners, mister Konstantinos (if I'm not mistaken), and his wife. Probably their good people, but unfortunately, our brief interactions felt rushed like we were bothering them every time. Didn't feel welcomed. I know it is the middle of the season and they have a lot on their plates, but it was weird to say at least.
We very much liked the room (#34), its position precisely. Far from the pool, in a quieter part of the hotel, with a nice view. The size was decent, not extraordinary, but it was nicely decorated. The cleanliness was great, and the stuff as well — big shoutout to mister Vasile, his colleague, and the cleaning lady. Thank you very much, you are doing a great job.

LatviaBasically all was very good, that’s why I put 9. It would be 10 out of 10, if breakfast would have more vegetables and maybe change food offer a bit during days, but it is a minor thing, as everything offered was very tasty and enough.
Room was large enough for family with 2 kids and very tidy, cleaning was done daily. 15min walking location to Caldera beach, bus stop besides hotel to go to Red beach or Fira. Car was possible to be rented in the hotel - owner Kostas greets each traveler himself and offers needed help during stay. Very tasty breakfast.

United KingdomPARKING - Small parking in front, the other public one is 20 meters away. Not big issue but if you would have a lot of luggage - not very comfy as you need to go on the road, as no pathway. PRICE - Too expensive for what you get overall, should be cheaper. Stop squeezing people out of money. No one is rich. HYGIENE - The tables next to the pool and the sun loungers were not cleaned after someone else. Everyone had to wear a mask but seen the guy from the staff putting bread with bare hands. No consequence in hygiene. AIR CONDITIONING - The air conditioning in the room was stinky sometimes and did not work when the key is out despite staff reassurance. LACK OF FRIENDLINESS - The pub waiter was not friendly like he is there because he has to. Also lied about food freshness. Not interested in customers at all. The cleaning ladies also with an angry look. POOL - The pool wasn't heated so a bit cold to swim for more than a few minutes. Charge for pool towels is just a joke, really. ROOM - The double bed, turned out to be two single beds next to each other, which was exactly what we wanted to avoid as we even chose a double bed! BREAKFAST - The breakfasts were okay in terms of variety, but not in terms of quality. Eggs were just heavily overcooked, not eatable. Also, no one comes to another country to eat the same what he can eat in his. Not greek at all, unless that piece of feta was the greek part. The rest was just market type food: poor ham, salami, Edam cheese, Nutella, peach from syrup, jam, cornflakes, croissant from pack etc. BAR FOOD - Tried also food at the bar, very fat, plenty of oil and the stuffed pepper I have ordered was just burned and filled with rice only, nothing else from bain-marie, probably cooked the day before. Not freshly made. Shame as really hoped to try homemade Greek food. The volcano pork was better but also full of oil. It was not bad, there is potential and room for improvement. So just listen to the guests guys :)
ROOM - The room was very clean and check-in and check out went very smoothly. Rooms have a big bathroom and are fully stocked with what you need. There are also blankets in case it would get cold and a decent size fridge is hidden in the cupboard. Very good wifi and tv worked fine (although could be more modern and bigger). The terrace was okay although no flowers above us to cover from the sun and no chance to sunbathe because of the wooden skeleton. HOSTILITY - We have been treated overall nicely. The reception lady and older Romanian manager (Multumesc!), very nice people to have a chat with and very helpful when you need something. DESIGN - There is a nice garden on the back. The reception looks very premium and nice to seat there. The hotel looks good overall, with plenty of flower pots everywhere, nice looking pool. WINE - wine bar was great, but prices are just too high.

United StatesNothing.. We loved it all!
This was my 6th time visiting Santorini. I was traveling with my family. We loved the rooms, the location( we aren’t into touristy areas), the pool, restaurant and delicious breakfast! If you rent a car, you have access to the island since it’s small. Kostas is very knowledgeable! He helped us with our travel to Athens and Turkey. I miss Hotel Mathios and wish I was back! Thank you Kostas, we will be back! My daughter cried the night before we left! She wanted to stay!
