Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe beds were a bit on the harder side. The location is a bit further out from the main part of town. It's a hard walk up an insane hill. However, there is meant to be a bus that goes by and I would recommend looking that up before embarking on the walk (as we did not). On our second day the lovely host called a taxi for us which came super quick.
The family that run Villa Maria are absolutely wonderful. They are so kind, respectful and helpful. The rooms were really clean and the air conditioning worked super well. The nearest beach was great and the pool was perfect.

AustraliaAbsolutely stunning villa run by the most welcoming and lovely family! Our group would go back in a heart beat. They went above and beyond to help our group with everything! The recently renovated rooms were spacious and had great aircon from the ios heat. The pool area was fantastic for relaxing and all only a short walk away from the beach. The location is great, near enough to walk to and from the port/restaurants and bars but far away enough to fully relax. Could not recommend enough!

United KingdomPool bae service was terrible because there was only one person staffing it, doing the food and taking orders. This meant we had to wait 10 mins at a time before being served.
view from the hotel was stunning. Breakfast was great. Used car service which was delivered to hotel. Staff gave some good tips for an itinerary of what to do in pathos.

United KingdomThe hosts went above and beyond in every way - it was my friend's birthday and when we were shown to our rooms there were balloons and delicious cakes for us to enjoy. The location was perfect, room had everything we needed and the restaurant food was amazing. We can't wait to stay there again.

AustraliaThe bed wasn’t as comfortable as other places we have stayed.
Antonis and his family were the most delightful and kind hosts. The room was extremely clean with modern fit out. Each day is smelled so clean and fresh after the cleaning staff came. The pool is also extremely clean and a lovely area. The coffee and food was delicious. Antonis assisted us with an ATV hire which is a must for getting around ios.

United KingdomNothing!
The villa was beautiful and very well kept. The pool area was lovely and relaxing with very comfy loungers. The rooms were kept incredibly clean, we had a balcony with a nice view. The beds were a little hard for us but that may be down to personal preference. The owners of the hotel were incredibly friendly and always around to help with anything, they even gave us a lift to the port when we left. The location of the hotel is great. A short walk to the beach or port and walkable to Chora if you don’t mind walking up some steps! If not it’s easy enough to get the bus from the port that runs every 15 minutes! We had breakfast a couple of times in the hotel and it was lovely a fresh and very reasonable. We had a lovely stay at Villa Maria, would highly recommend!!

Excellent apartments, in a great location near, but not next to, the port! Owners (Maroussa and Adonis) were both so friendly and funny, really welcoming and kind. We stayed with some friends and family, and would highly recommend! Rooms were clean and fully equipped. Great pool. Space for parking.

United KingdomIf we were back at the hotel before 11pm we were expected to go to our rooms rather than have a drink at the bar of around the pool due to their quiet rules (which is fine) this is quite early for holiday makers therefore it would have been good to have a TV in the room with international channels as well as stronger wifi. Also a kettle so that we could make our own coffee in the morning.
Very clean room. The pool also. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming. Took us to the port to catch our ferry.

United KingdomAs with most hotels of this type, noise from a room above yours is transmitted quite clearly through the walls or floor. At one point, we thought the couple above us had started a furniture removal or carpentry business for about 3 hours each morning!! But this isn't the fault of the hotel, it's due to its construction. However, putting felt pads on the feet of chairs & tables would remove a lot of this type of noise. We like a lie-in on holiday, whilst others are up before the sun - we understand that but furniture pads would help! Apart from that, which is definitely not a unique issue to this hotel, we can't find fault. And coming from us that's like winning an Oscar!
First time to Ios, and we were concerned about loud noise post mudnight. Absolutely no problem with this hotel. It's located at the far end of the beach in Ios port, and is surrounded by empty or desserted buildings. That sounds horrendous, but its really not! Ok so rhe area isn't that pretty, but its dead quiet as a result, yet only a 10 min walk to the port's town where there's a good selection of tavernas and cafes. The hotel itself is lovely, and the owners spend their days manicuring the gardens and flower beds. As I told the owner its like an oasis of beauty in a desert! The hotel and rooms are spotlessly clean. Daily room service includes a set of fresh towels. They do provide a small scale food & drink service on request which is of reasonable value and choice. There are only 9 rooms (we think!) with ample, high quality, comfy sunbeds around the immaculate pool. Pool itself is lovely and a constant depth of 1.45m Ours was a ground floor room, so the "mountain view" was more hotel utility buildings with mountains in the distance- but really who cares about their room view!! More importantly the shower was very good with constant water pressure and hot water 24/7 which with budget hotels can be a bit hit & miss. Room was a good size with a useful mini fridge. Don't expect luxury frills - it's essentially a budget hotel but the rooms are tastefully and simply furnished. Bed matress was a bit hard for us, but this seems to be a feature of Greek hotels. We're now currently in a £380 a night luxury hotel as I write this, and the beds here are no softer! The owners are lovely and will do anything for you. They arranged a very well priced quad bike for us and got the guy to pick us up to collect it. They also gave us a lift back to the port when we left. We would definitely stay here again if we returned to Ios. This hotel is unbelievable value for its quality and condition.
