Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyOne very minor thing: we would have welcomed a shower curtain.
The Villa Melina is a beautiful villa surrounded by a very attractive garden. Our large room -- with large windows, a high ceiling, and handsome wood furniture -- was very comfortable. Not only was the bed comfortable but the bathroom was large and there was a mini-refrigerator, a hot water heater and plenty of place for our things. Our room was in excellent condition and very clean. The WiFi/Internet connection was very good. We liked the location: just far enough above the harbor to be quiet and provide a view of the sea. The pool is set among attractive plants and trees, and the terraces provide tables and chairs for breakfast or for relaxing. The buffet breakfast featured each morning a variety of freshly baked cakes and pastry as well as several breakfast staples. My wife and I were particularly pleased by the friendly style of Villa Melina and the very helpful tips provided. We particularly benefitted from suggestions about how and what to see in Kalymnos, about restaurants in Potia, and about car rental.

United StatesNot a thing (but do expect a certain element of eccentricity which in my opinion that is not a bad thing.)
Villa Melina is a special and wonderful place. Our room was in the actual Villa and opened onto a huge terrace with an amazing view of the town. I can’t wait to go back and will stay longer next time. Special shout out to the amazing breakfast with home cooked pies and fresh fruit.

United KingdomDifficult to get to by car but easy to find once you had got your bearings on foot as it is up a series of winding small streets away from the busy town.
The breakfast was excellent- full range of breads, cheese, ham, jams, cake, fruit etc. The villa was lovely & near to the start of the Italian walk over the hill to Vathy. It was away from the hustle & bustle of busy Pothia.

United KingdomThis is a very beautiful and special place, full of historic charm. Rooms have high ceilings and large windows. Ours had no balcony but there are beautiful outdoor spaces everywhere to discover. On Sunday morning we sat by the pool under the bougainvillea eating homemade cakes for breakfast, with the sound of Orthodox priests chanting in the church just above us on the mountain - unforgettable. If you arrive by boat and have luggage it's worth getting a taxi up from the harbour - easy to walk back down though, when you know the route. Parking and driving around the hotel is tricky but the lovely owners will give good advice.

I just cannot recommend it enough!! George (the owner) is so polite, helpful and an amazing guy, he gave me lots of recommendations of things to do on the island. The room was spacious with nice decor and two balconies. I was so very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and had a big variety of food and beverages. The location is good also, convenient to get to the main Pothia square and the shops.

TurkeyNothing really If I have to share a constructive feedback - the pillows could be better & shower cabins could be renewed.
Truly special place, set in original 1930s building remaining all the charm - high ceilings- hard wood floors - large rooms- wooden shutters on windows and more Villa Melina is located right in the heart of the old town yet on a quiet residential street. But what makes this place really special was it’s wonderful host Yorgos who goes above & beyond to make guests comfortable. You can tell he loves this place… I arrived super late at after 1 am, not only to find that he was personally present for the check in - but he was busy baking wonderful cinnamon rolls for the breakfast I will definitely be back .

And the breakfast all home made by owner Georgios was terrific. The apple cake, the carrot cake, the croissants, the fresh fruit and a big variety to choose from.
