We stayed for 3 nights. There was heavy rain for 24 hours and the electricity went off. That would be absolutely OK if it didn't affect also the toilet and the water pressure. We couldn't flush the toilet! I had to fill the bin with water to be able to flush it. When taking a shower, water goes everywhere and then sits around the toilet. Also the staff should be more professional. We were chilling in our room and a gardener was peering on us through the window. Creepy. Quite pricey for Campeche.

Spacious, clean room. The whole area was very nicely kept. Beach access.

We were kept awake by music being played outside and by guests next door smoking cigarettes and drinking till 2:00 AM despite my asking them to be quiet.

It was an interesting mix of camping and cabins.

The shower could use some type of curtain and barrier to keep the water from going everywhere, also the drain is not low enough so water stays there and does not drain fast enough. so it makes it uncomfortable during and after you are done because if you drop your towel or clothes they will get wet.

The location is good, close to the highway but not to close, we needed a place to just spend the night and leave early in the morning to continue our trip. The lady that I believe owns the place was very friendly, and helpful. Our room was very spacious.

    Nice relaxed place, badly designed.

The bathroom was horrendous. Clean: OK; Spacious: OK; wheelchair accessible: OK. Just that it al comes to the cost of having only a flimsy curtain separating it from the room. This means that all small noises and smells produced during your private sessions are instantly shared with all your traveling companions. We solved this by using the (very clean) campground restrooms for our sanitary retreats. But then, after taking two short showers in the morning, the entire room was inundated, because the shower sink is at a higher level than the room and nothing is there to separe both spaces. Apparently "universally designed" means "wheelchair accessible". But if this means sacrificing all other essentials, I fear they will continue scoring bad reviews. Para los propietarios: ¡Por favor, pongan una puerta entre el cuarto y el baño!

Nice and tranquil place on the beach of Laguna Términos with big, clean rooms. The hotel grounds also function as a trailer park and camping. Probably not the place to spend your honeymoon, but certainly a good and relaxed stopover for a few days on a long voyage. We were really at ease arriving on a tropical december evening having a beer at the restaurant. On winter days, you'll have both sunset and sunrise over the lagoon. Nearby restaurants provide simple Mexican home-style seafood and snacks, delicious if you like the local style.

Freedom Shores has seen better days.
    • Leisure trip
    • Couple
    • Quadruple Room with Garden View

I think this hotel has seen better days. Everything seemed a bit run down - sheets with holes, lamp shades with yellowed torn plastic, sketchy toilet with water leaking out with every flush, we could only coax out a trickle of water from the sink, ancient AC. It is located on the lagoon beach (which is public - I totally support that concept in Mexico!), but there is only a small strip (10 ft?) between the water and the chain link fence, which is packed with restaurant tables and chairs, filled with families picnicking for the day. Maybe my expectations were misguided, this place was so highly recommended and we had passed miles of big white sandy beaches with palm trees and palapas on our way to Freedom Shores so I was disappointed by the reality. On a good note, we headed out to one of those nearby beaches for the afternoon and spent a lovely few hours with a whole bay to ourselves. I think if you are travelling in an RV and so not worried about the actual facilities, and are prepared to drive out to the beautiful beaches before and after the town your experience could be quite positive.

Wonderful knowing the history behind this accommodation, designed to meet the needs of people with mobility challenges (in a previous century that is). As 2 people we were in a room with 4 queen size beds - huge! Staff were all very nice. Place is dog friendly.

I would come back in summer to see the dolphins again, but would stay in a different room.

We arrived on a Monday and the staff all had off and most restaurants in town were closed too. That was bad planning on our part. We had room number 1 and it needs some serious updating. It is right where everyone walks by, but the windows need to be open for air, the blinds could have supplied privacy but didn’t function probably to be turned to be partly open. The air conditioner didn’t have a remote, so we couldn’t turn it on and the fans made so much noise, we couldn’t sleep with them on. We decided the hell with privacy, we slept with the windows open. It was very quiet and you can here the sound of the water, so that part was lovely.

We stayed here because we waned to take a boat ride to see the dolphins. Velma the owner was very nice, the setting is right on the beach and picturesque.

The restaurant is the only place to eat nearby. The service was very erratic, which was frustrating with two hungry kids. When the food did eventually arrive it was OK. To be fair, the waiter was very apologetic - apparently, most of the staff had gone home leaving him and one cook on their own. It was 2nd Jan, so it could have been that hangovers from new year's celebrations were to blame. The only area with WiFi coverage was outside the hotel office, where there were loads of mosquitos after dark. Strange that the bathroom in the room had a curtain, rather than a door. Not great when you need a bit of privacy!

The beach was OK and we were picked up directly from there by Marbella for a boat tour around the lagoon (really good), which was handy. The place itself was well located to break our journey after a long drive from Calakmul. It's away from the centre of Isla Aguada, so we didn't really get a chance to see the town and find out why it is a Pueblo Magico.

Room was not good, not very clean, bathroom doesn't have a door just a shower curtain use as the door so there's no privacy and curtain had fungus stains so is the tiles grout, wi-fi didn't worked, no TV, a/c is old and noisy when works, ceiling fans were old and very noisy ( squeaky), shower was very low, at night the noise of the a/c will not let us sleep, we tried to just ignored the problems and focus on enjoying around the town, that was a big mistake! We stayed an extra day, when I went to pay for the extra day there was a guy very tacky and sleazy that at one point out of the blue was offering me a massage, very unprofessional, during the day we were out exploring around when we got back there was no power and water, we decided to wait a little, while we did this the guy opened the door and said "I thought you guys were out" and left, that gave us a very uneasy feeling, I went to check with him about the incident and the water and power problem, he said they were working on that soon will be fix. We spent the entire night without power and water it was a real nightmare not having a/c or a fan plus no water to refresh or use the toilet. We just waited for the daylight and left, I asked the guy why he didn't let us know that nothing was going to get fix so we could decide to stay or leave but he couldn't take any responsibility just blamed others instead.
