Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United Kingdomit pains me to say that it could be cleaner. The room is clean but the cooking area and the taps and sinks need a deep clean. if that was done it would be amazing.
this is a unique place. it is a very old house with a lovely pool. The breakfasts are different. Lots of go remade cakes and homemade croissants. The owners are delightful and very very hospitable. It Is also very close to the front but far enough away from the hustle and bustle.

AustraliaEverything was perfect.
This is the best hotel I have ever stayed at — anywhere in the world. A lovely old house. Fabulous pool. Beautiful garden. Five minutes walk from the waterfront. Blissfully quiet. Great breakfast (home-made croissants in Greece!) But it was the care and help of the staff that was particularly outstanding. I had injured my knee badly travelling to the island, and could barely walk for the first couple of days. The proprietor and his son were extremely solicitous, even bringing me food at night because I could not go out to eat. Thank you Kyrios Antonis and Giorgos. I can;t wait to come back!

United Kingdomit was surface clean but not deep cleaned. No cooking facility but did have a few plates and bits for preparing lunch etc. Breakfast was Quirky with lots of homemade cakes on offer! Bit hit and miss with crockery, cups, glasses, hot water being available and didn't like to keep asking the lovely owner. found it easier to make tea in my room and bring it to breakfst with me)
Swimming pool was lovely, rooms were large. Lovely location with trees and shrubs around the pool. Owner friendly and kind. Homemade cakes for breakfast!. Peaceful location but convenient for main town also. Ate breakfast on the terrace all together at one table which added a nice dimension to meeting other travellers and my children to meet guests from other countries. Tea coffee making families and fridge in room

FinlandNothing negative to say.
A lovely hotel with a nice pool. Very helpful and friendly owners, a decent breakfast. Short distance to the harbour and town center. This was my second stay here and I can recommend the place. Much nicer than a three star hotel by the harbour where I have stayed, too.

United KingdomNothing! The whole place was amazing!
Villa Melina is one of the most beautiful and interesting places I have ever stayed. Even before we arrived and we had asked for directions, the gentleman I spoke to knew exactly where it was and described it as a "castle". Walking through the huge iron doorway I was immediately transported back in time and felt like I was in an episode of The Durrell's. The grand stone stairway entrance and stunning exterior were amazing. Inside, the hosts could not have been more attentive. They very kindly gave us a free upgrade which was unexpected and most welcome. The rooms were clean, comfortable, quirky and quaint with no two the same. The icing on the cake was the huge balcony with breathtaking views across the bay to the impressive mountaintop monastery. I doubt you will find a more stunning view anywhere on the island. I would definitely recommend a trip to this gorgeous island and I would urge you to book a room at Villa Melina. I am planning my next trip back as soon as possible.

GreeceIt can be tricky to get to the hotel with a car, since the roads are really narrow and like a maze. The place was clean, but we had a couple encounters with cockroaches. A couple of times we saw ants on the breakfast table. The A/C was quite loud.
Great breakfast, homemade. Spacious rooms with authentic feel. Friendly, accommodating hosts. Good location. Great value for money.

AustraliaThe breakfast ran out on our first day. The hotel was a little dirty and the mattresses were very old. The beds squeaked everytime you turned over. The shower head kept on falling off and the toilet didn't stop flushing. The aircon wasnt particularly strong either. It was ok...
The place was quaint and the pool was lovely. The location was quite good. The breakfast was provided and was made on site, so while it was delicious it was a little hit and miss.

GreeceIn our arrival we found used towels in the bathroom from the previous guests. Probably they forgot to check the dirty towel bin. The public areas were abandoned. Not cleaned. Breakfast wasn't good enough. I appreciated the homemade carrot cake and cinnamon rolls. But that's it. 08.30 (that breakfast starts) its late for breakfast and even at 9 they weren't totally ready. Tongs to serve your plate, nowhere. Its a pity to have such a classic building and dont make it work properly.
The room was good. Big for family. In front of the pool. The bathroom was renovated and that's super good. AC was working good. Pool was nice.

GermanyThe rooms are totally dirty, as if nobody had ever vacuumed them. The bathroom is partially moldy and all fittings are rusty. All walls had water damage. Actually you don't want to touch anything because everything is so dirty and sticky. There is no balcony as described. The location is also a bit outside of the city center. You have to go up the hill through a dark street, past many seemingly homeless people, barracks and overflowing garbage cans. We didn't eat breakfast, obviously - when the rooms look like this, you don't even want to know what the kitchen might look like.
Everything looked nice at first, unfortunately only from the outside. The house itself is beautiful, and the hosts are friendly too. But that's it.

United KingdomIt's rather run down, which is a shame because it could be so much better with some tlc. The room wasn't cleaned properly (rug clearly not vacuumed in a while, hair in the shower plug, so after that I tried not to look too closely...). We've often stayed in other two-star hotels, with many that were impeccable, but this one was a disappointment. The wind blowing down the chimney stack, the doors, shutters and everything else rattling all night were not particularly helpful. Thankfully it was only a one-night stop-over.
Not far from the ferry port. Nice looking characterful building from the outside.

GreeceThe kitchen facilities were very poor and the kitchen itself very small. I cook everywhere I go (I travel all of Greece for work) but it was difficult to even make pancakes there - thank God I carry a lot of things myself for situations like this. Also, The building is old and I think ready for a renovation. Last, the rate of the room was not in line with the services offered.
Impressive building, nice atmosphere and the hosts were very friendly. The room was spacious and clean.
