Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.

United StatesOne night a loud outside fan to either AC or a heater (unsure which) upstairs on the balcony over our room was crazy loud late into the evening. We had asked for a room away from the street to avoid any street noise.
The small size, friendly staff, breakfast, and stepping stones to the room. Great location.

United KingdomI didn't like having my hotel of choice switched on me without being given a say. There were lots of parties/conferences going on in the Hotel Antigua so it wasn't as peaceful as the Casa Encantada would have been, but my room was in a quiet courtyard so the bustle of the common areas didn't penetrate. The staff were attentive and helpful but, possibly because it was a large hotel and very busy, gave the impression constantly of being terrified you'd bolt without paying so were very officious in checking room number and getting signatures. On arrival in the room, the only written information was about the various ways they would pursue you for payment if required, rather than the description of the hotel facilities I was expecting. There was no information about hotel facilities or local attractions.
I had booked La Casa Encantada but was informed I'd been "upgraded" and, on arrival found I was in the Hotel Antigua which is another hotel in the same Porta group in the next block. At first I wasn't pleased, as I had fond memories of the Casa Encantada and had wanted to return. However, the Hotel Antigua was very comfortable, beautiful and had more facilities so was an acceptable substitute. The breakfast buffet was very good, as was the seafood ceviche I had for dinner one night. The swimming pool was lovely and warm and in a lovely setting. Everywhere was very clean.

United StatesThey've removed amenities that were present on past stays, such as coffee makers and safes in the rooms. Photos distort the size of the courtyard pool, which is just for decoration. Rooms vary quite a bit in size . . . some are a good value, others not worth the price.
Lovely little inn with just a few rooms. The staff are competent and friendly, and one feels safe, as you have to ring to enter. The high points are the breakfast terrace, with a view of surrounding mountains and colonial streets, and the ample breakfast itself.

United StatesThe fire alarm went off several times the first night so we did not sleep. I felt they should have offered a refund for this night but just apologized for the inconvenience. For the cost of the hotel they should not have a broken fire alarm. They fixed it the next morning though

United KingdomThe bedroom was smaller than expected but the bed was very comfortable.
The hotel staff were friendly and most helpful. It is a pretty, little hotel, well situated for walking around old Antigua. The pool is very small, not really a swimming pool. Breakfast was varied and good , up on the hotel roof terrace.
