Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesFor a 6 nights stay, it would’ve been nice to have a little fridge in the room.
Beautiful property and excellent location, very friendly and attentive staff.

United StatesThere is not Air Con; nor are there air units and the room fans provided are too small. The nights we stayed the electricity when off each night which is apparently normal in Antigua however, the recovery after the electricity finally came back on it took ages to feel cool again. This would be my only comment which is attached to the price of the room; which is high for hot night sleeps.
My husband and I loved our stay at the San Rafael Hotel. One word: ROMANTIC. The San Rafael is a couple stay for sure. There are 7 Suites and the layouts are amazing. The whole hotel is so well done, clean, and so much room. The breakfast is included which is great as is the staff. The outside layout is gorgeous my husband and I took non professional photos and they are beautiful. The location is central Antigua so it’s beyond a perfect location.

United StatesThe did not like how breakfast was located right outside more door in room #1 so there was no way I could sleep in if I wanted to with all the noise. Also, do NOT ask this hotel to help you arrange transportation! I made the mistake of asking the staff to help me get a ride to San Lucas Toliman, close to Lake Attilan. The staff arranged transportation for me, which was overpriced at US$175. The driver was very unsafe since he was texting while driving and I felt extremely uncomfortable during the ride. What should have been a 2 1/2 hour trip turned into a four hour trip with all the stops. The driver decided to make as well.
The location is amazing. Located less than a block away from the Santa Catalina Arch! It’s centrally located in Antigua and close to everything you want and need to see. The property grounds are gorgeous. The hotel is very safe with a security gate in front with easygoing staff to protect you.

United StatesI had an amazing experience during my stay at the hotel. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and there were plenty of options to choose from. The room was cozy and comfortable, and I loved the decor of the hotel. It had a unique charm that added to the overall experience. The hotel is situated in a prime location, which made it easy for me to explore the city on foot. I was able to visit all the major attractions without having to travel too far. Overall, it was a delightful stay and I would highly recommend this boutique hotel to anyone visiting the area.

United KingdomThe rooms are a bit noisy at times due to the location in the centre of town. There is no air conditioning but that wasn’t a problem when we stayed, but it was warm.
We loved this hotel. It was simply beautiful from first to last impression. The staff were wonderful and the room lovely. Breakfast was delicious. We had two early morning starts and for both they made us a packed breakfast that was good too. When my wife was poorly for a day it was a great place to convalece.

BermudaWe stayed two nights and it always felt dark and cold inside the hotel, even when it was sunny outside.
The inner courtyard is so wonderfully lush - as soon as you enter through the hotel gates, you find yourself in a green lush wonderland. Its a charming beautiful hotel with lots of eclectic exotic art. Unbeatable location - the arch is 1 minute away, around the corner from the hotel.

United StatesMy only suggestion would be for each guest to eat breakfast outside their own room, so as not to disturb those who want to sleep in.
Room was beautiful, comfortable, and extremely clean! The included breakfasts were delicious and eating in the courtyard was a great start to each day. The staff was amazing. Conveniently located within walking distance of shopping, dining, and sightseeing.

United StatesNothing to report here.
The room was spacious, and very well appointed with lots of detail. The shower was strong and hot, breakfast was amazing with a selection of hot meals every morning. Even though it was in the busiest part of Antigua it was very quiet. It's only a half a block from the famous arch. The mattresses were very comfortable.

United StatesThe only thing that would've made it better would've been a kettle in the room to make tea, but I walked over to the office and they were more than happy to make me some.
What a great little hotel! The location is perfect, the room was charming, very quiet and comfortable. The staff was a joy. Would not hesitate to book the San Rafael again.

United StatesThe only windows look out onto the courtyard and there is a table directly outside the window (where people take breakfast) so we didn’t really open our window, which made the room a little dark. Not a huge issue though.
We absolutely loved this hotel! It is without a doubt one of the nicest places we have ever stayed. I loved how convenient it is to everything (literally right beside Santa Catalina Arch), and yet as soon as you pass through the gate you feel like you are tucked away in a tranquil and private oasis with a beautiful secret garden in the central courtyard. Each room in this hotel is different and some are larger than others. We were not able to stay in the same room both nights due to availability, which gave us a chance to experience two different rooms: room 1 and room 3. Room 1 was absolutely amazing. It is huge and has high, vaulted ceilings and a large fireplace and sitting area. The bathroom is set apart around the corner and the shower also has a vaulted ceiling, chandelier, and skylight. Everything felt very grand. I appreciated the makeup mirror that was provided so I could get ready without turning on all the lights and waking up my husband. Room 3 is still very nice but smaller and less grand than Room 1 (it doesn’t have a vaulted ceiling or separate sitting area in front of the fireplace). If we had stayed in Room 3 first I think we would have loved it, but it was a bit of a letdown coming from the huge and extravagant Room 1. With that said, Room 3 is not right on the central courtyard, so it feels a little quieter and more private. I think every other room is on the main courtyard, aside from the big suite (which is just beyond Room 3 in its own courtyard). The San Rafael is a small hotel (I think there are only 6 or 7 rooms) and it feels very intimate and boutique-like. A few other pluses about this hotel: First, I really loved taking breakfast outdoors in the courtyard surrounded by the beautiful garden, and second, it felt very safe. The gate locked behind you when you walked out on the street so even in broad daylight you still had to ring a doorbell to get in. At night, there is a door and a gate. All told, we absolutely loved this hotel.

Absolutely stunning property, a little oasis away from the bustling streets with very friendly staff. The breakfast was very good - probably the best hotel breakfast we have ever had. GermanyThe breakfast was poor standard. I also did not appreciate being charged 200Q for cleaning bedsheets as I started my period. This is something very natural which all women experience.

United StatesWe knew the property didn’t have any air conditioning, but didn’t mind knowing the October climate didn’t necessitate air conditioning. Unfortunately, at least with our particularly room, opening the window did nothing to cool off the room or provide fresh air. We were quite warm at night, and the provided fan didn’t help. When we opened the door to leave each morning, the cool air hit us, but the placement of the window didn’t allow for the same effect.
Absolutely gorgeous common area and rooms. The staff was all incredibly courteous and friendly. The breakfast wasn’t just the best breakfast I’ve ever had at a hotel…it was one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had anywhere. The rain shower head was fantastic. Sitting in the common area courtyard, enjoying the wall art and sculptures awaiting a delicious breakfast served by an amazing and welcoming staff… it was a five star experience I’d recommend to anyone.
