Breakfast wasn't up to standard to make my coffee or tea I had to get my hot water from a water bottle. You have to pay additional for your bake and salt fish or pasty the Breakfast was plain white bread with jelly or nut butter with or scrambling eggs the Breakfast was bad .

The breakfast, from the length of time it’s on (08:00-10:00) to the quality on offer, not a happy experience for any of the three times. It says ‘breakfast included’ on the booking but that is their most basic of options. I recommend you eat out. It’s really a place for the solo traveller who isn’t looking for much, definitely not for young families, though as I said…they were friendly to my child but the hotel is not built for children at all. And no cot available…bar/games room closed (it’s listed they have them)

The staff on the whole were great, so helpful and whatever we needed as a family was taken care of as best they could.

An electronic gate opening mechanism is needed. Currently staff have to physically leave the desk and open and close the gate everytime a guest comes in or leaves.

Found the room to be small but it was ok and the internet was given problem. The manager explain to us the personal from Gtt suppose to visit and sort it out but no one came but the place is nice and cleans

The airconditioners could be renewed as they make some noise. The performance of the ac's however, was good. The electricity went out twice, and within approximately half an hour it was back on. I don't know if this was due to the hotel or Guyana's electric company.

The breakfast was good as well as the service from the staff. We got an upgrade as there was a mistake in the booking. The staff was also happy to advise us on where to get great food or the closest gas station open in the middle of the night. If you need a parking space in front of the hotel, please notify that upfront. Overall it was a pleasure to stay at The Durban Hotel.

First of all I originally booked a different hotel. But despite sending emails via Booking and their Facebook page I received no response. So I cancelled and booked with the Durban instead. Communication from Odella was excellent. She was quick to respond and professional. She also arranged my airport taxi and I was able to pre pay through Booking. My check in was after 11pm but staff were waiting and helpful. The room was very clean. They clearly have pride in their standards. Bed linen was immaculate, nice clean bathroom, clean towels, toilet, bath, shower, sink all spotless. I actually ran my finger behind the bed headboard just to see and there was no dust even in the hidden places. Very impressed. Downside, there was no mini kettle in the room. There was hot water, cups, and coffee available in the breakfast room but I had to wake the staff at midnight to discover that. It’s NOT a complaint, but two cups some sachets and a mini kettle in the room would be a nice addition. Morning staff were very friendly. Sadly didn’t get to meet Odella in person as my stay was brief. Just a one night layover in transit. If you’re doing likewise, or using Georgetown as a gateway to the interior, on a short visit for cricket or something then I’d absolutely recommend The Durban. Good value for money, clean comfy bed, friendly professional staff.
