How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Very nice villa surrounded by a beautiful garden. Very close to the Old City of Dubrovnik. Amazing breakfasts freshly prepared by the villa owner.

Unfortunately room 5 needs some attention Curtains didn’t cover light/ seemed to have shrunk after a wash… No batteries in the TV remote control: tv didn’t work Heating didn’t work which meant room was cold at night / April Hot water in the shower seemed to be on a timer so it didn’t always have hot water / extraction fan didn’t work so room smelt dump after a day Kettle was dangerous if unattended it kept boiling

Very close to old town, lovely gardens to sit in. Beds were very comfortable and a good breakfast included. Staff were welcoming and hospitable and price was very good :)

A little far from old city. (15-20 min walk)
The owner, Lena was very kind and responded my request quickly. The breakfast was very delicious and satisfying. The room was very clean.

The pre-arrival information (keycode, wifi password) was only send a few hours before we arrived so, without roaming internet, we didn't receive it. Given we'd booked a few days earlier, if the info was sent the previous day, the stay would have been perfect. There are a lot of steps to reach the accommodation (which is generally true of Dubrovnik), which we didn't know about in advance.
Breakfast is excellent and the room is very good

The debroom was smaller than expected and there were so many stairs to get to the apartment. Bear in mind that Dubrovnik has many stairs everywhere, so prepare your legs.
The bed was comfortable and the gardens were nice. Also, the host was super helpful with information about the city

Magdalena was an amazingly good host. the breakfasts she served each of 3 mornings were delicious and so unique. the quantity and quality of food was excellent. she gave us a bottle of wine from their own vineyard which was excellent and so generous of her. she was very friendly. the outdoor breakfast garden was so quaint and beautifully landscaped, great place to eat. our room had a beautiful balcony which we relaxed on many times.

I would have liked the information about self check-in the night before as I travelled by bus from Trogir and did not have wifi. I was also not aware that the information would come through What'sAp and not Booking.com. l was treated quite poorly when a neighbour tried to help me find the owner as if it was all my fault.
The room was fine, although the bed could use a new mattress. The garden was exceptional and so was the breakfast. Once I found it the location was great. Stairs are part of the experience but it was difficult with a suitcase.

There are a lot of stairs to climb to get to the property - a bit of a climb with heavy suitcases.
The room was comfortable and had everything that we needed for our stay. The breakfast was very good and the owner was very friendly.

The number of stairs we had to climb to get to the apartment. We had heavy suitcases.
We never met the staff but we communicated by texting. They left us a receipt and we left the payment in the apartment.

The payment is in cash! Besides, even if the apartment is close to the city center, there are HUGE stairs to get to it.
The breakfast was amazing, and the hotel was quite nice.

Could have been more transparent that the location is only accessible by foot, after plenty of steep stairs. Then I would have arranged my luggage in a way that everything I need for my stay is in a small bag, the rest remains in car.
Location very quite with a nice garden, where very good breakfast is served.

the mattress could have been firmer.
It's like staying at your beloved aunt's house. You feel very welcome here, everything is taken care of. The hostess told where the best beaches are. The place where the house stands is very quiet, in the morning you can only hear chirping cicadas and birds. Close to the main street and a small grocery store. Convenient connection with the shuttle bus to airport, only 15 minutes on foot, or 3 minutes with Bolt. Our stay was wonderful and the breakfast in the courtyard was like a fairy tale.

The host is terrible at communicating. She thinks she is doing charity by renting out rooms. Check-in is not smooth and when you miss solving her puzzle to get to the hotel you will get a call from her, she will shout at you 😂
Location is very good, and breakfast is amazing. I would have given 9 rating if it was not for the rude host and not so straightforward check in process.

It probably needs a little bit of TLC/ maintenance in regards to air conditioners working properly and the shower head needed to be replaced or tightened so it didn’t keep falling down
Good location, self check in, very affordable and good value for money. Breakfast was pretty good too. Fridge available in room for self purchased snacks and drinks. Loved how quite the property was and just had this enchanted vibe.
