Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Vietnamthe initial room I was put in was covered in black mould and smelled so damp, it was pretty disgusting. They did move me to a better room when I requested. The breakfast buffet had ants all over it.
it was a good location for an overnight stay before you to go into the national park, the bed was comfortable and the room was spacious. The staff were helpful.

United KingdomHas thin windows and is close to a mosque which will wake you in the night (expected and found all over Pangkalan Bun), bathroom was a little flooded with water, breakfast wasn’t great and cups / plates were a little dirty (however there was no cockroaches found at the buffet which we had at Grand Kecubung)
The value for money is roughly about right for this hotel whereas the value for money at the Grand Kecubung is way over the reality of the facilities. Nice garden area and opposite a Pizza Hut if you want a break from Indonesian food. The room does the job if you are stopping over for a night.

United KingdomDamn this place damp! the smell is pretty overpowering and yes, the bread basket is still mouldy inside, too. The hot water also wasn’t working. yes, it’s cheap but there are places half the price in better condition.
the staff was very nice and helpful. great location if you’re coming from the airport and are going on the orang Utan ship. place was clean.

FranceThe hotel must have been a good one when it opened but hasn't been maintained at all. Everything is old and dirty, with a strong humidity smell. The walls and floor of our room were dirty, as was the bathroom that definition doesn't make you wanna take a shower. The sheets were very clean though The staff at the reception is extremely nice and helping but the restaurant staff couldn't be less interested in working or answering customers. Very disappointing breakfast; we arrived early but the buffet was almost empty: nescafé sticks, cold tea, few slices of soft bread, 2 slices of papaya and the end of a prawn plate remaining, nobody refilled the buffet. Better go to a next door breakfast place
Convenient location, 7-10 min from the aiport

AustraliaThe wall behind the breakfast buffet table was covered in spider eggs, webs, mould and grime, and the bread storage bin is mouldy inside. This is easily fixed so I hope this is done very soon. The lighting in the hallways and rooms is a bit dark and makes the place seem dreary. Our toilet and bathmat had an odour of urine which was quite unpleasant - I had to leave the door closed and put the bathmat into the hall. During my stay I was bitten repeatedly by what I think may be fleas, though whether I got that from sitting outside my room, or in my room, I don't know. The bites are many and painful/itchy. Unfortunately, the bathroom light turns on a room light too, which wakes a sleeping person when the other goes to the bathroom in the middle of the night. But the thing I didn't like most were other guests in the breakfast area, coughing forcefully and directly on the breakfast food and smoking indoors. It upset me to wait for food and for it to be coughed on before I got to it. As an Australian, we do not smoke indoors as it is harmful to the health of others (and it smells bad, it is not courteous for us). I understand smoking indoors is normal for Indonesia, but I hope the hotel staff consider not allowing either coughing people or smoking people to continue sitting in the indoor dining area. Many countries around the world do not allow smoking indoors. The staff are very gentle and kind people but I do hope they can insist on at least a high standard in food hygiene to account for unhygienic guests. The staff are lovely and I'm sure they are working with what they are dealt. I felt it was a fair value, despite the bad things. My expectations of a hotel in a small town after two years of COVID is not high, so while these things happened, I'm ok with having stayed here. I wish them and all of Pangkalan Bun businesses all the best, and give this honest review with the intention of helping the hotel improve.
The gardens are lovely. Our shower was hot and the bathroom is spacious enough to be quite comfortable. The air con makes the room cool quickly, and is quiet. The room was non-smoking and large, with a writing desk, chairs and luggage stand. The bed is large, firm mattress. Complimentary water is appreciated. I like the room's tiled floor as I feel this is easier to keep clean than carpet. The distance to the airport was good, and the town (and riverside) was a gentle half hour walk away, which we enjoyed. The staff were helpful with ordering taxis. There is wifi. The breakfast buffet has omelette, bread for toast, fresh fruit, tea, and Indonesian breakfast options such as yellow rice, white rice, chilli chicken, soup, and condiments. Although we didn't order anything, their restaurant menu had some tasty looking food.

NetherlandsOur bed didn't have a sheet on the duvet, which looked like it had seen better days. The room smelled a bit mouldy. All in all, the hotel serves its purpose if all you're there for is to go see the orangutans, but that's about it...
We came here to go to the orangutan trip in Pangkalan Bun so it was a good location.

NetherlandsRoom was not clean and smelled bad, stains and hairs in bathroom. AC didn’t work properly, at 16’C we didn’t even feel a breeze in the room. There were a lot of mosquitos, we thought we killed them all but they kept showing up again. The beds were ok, but made a lot of noise to the point you woke up from te sound of turning around in bed. We both had a terrible night.
Staff was very kind, polite and helpful. Location was convenient for us. Garden was nice as well. Food was quite good in restaurant, breakfast was ok.
