Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyPersonally I was missing an AC - but there was a big fan at the sealing so it's fine ✌️

AustriaMadé and her family were delightful and very helpful. I was completely exhausted after driving from GWK in horrendous traffic & she had her husband park the car in a safe lot for me. She also arranged for her father, who is a guide and driver, to take me to Besakih Temple the next morning so that I could have a day away from driving. The room and the balcony in the middle of the rainforest were healing.

New ZealandThe roosters take some getting used to but nothing a pair or ear plugs can’t fix if and when you need an afternoon nap. Incentive to get up and get on with your day.
Beautiful private balcony in a family environment. Walkable distance to busy Ubud central but away from all the hustle so you can relax after a long day. Ketut and family are such warm hosts, aunty downstairs can make fresh coconut oil. Alit went above and beyond to ensure comfort. Delicious Balinese coffee and breakfast. Felt right at home. Kids and pets are so cute. Scooters available on request.

United KingdomThe room was a little on the damp side, the bed could have done with a little wipe down from surface mildew. It was absolutely fine apart from that.
Very welcoming and great to stay at a traditional Balinese home. Beautiful forest view from the bedroom/balcony.

United StatesNothing! We loved it. It’s a bit out of ubud center but the location is still good! There are also a fair bit of jungle / animal noises at night (ie roosters, etc), though these were mostly drowned out by our fan.
Beautiful room with balcony looking out onto a lush (and loud) jungle! Friendly staff, nice bathroom, laundry and other services available.

United KingdomWe had such a lovely stay at Bali Asli Lodge. We felt very welcomed, and we loved being able to catch moments of the daily life of a Balinese family. The rooms are spacious, cool and very private, and they got cleaned everyday during our stay. Room is also far away enough from the road that is quiet, but central Ubud is only a walk away. Would 100% recommend the experience.

VietnamThere is no AC because it is a traditional house, the ceiling is made from the leaves (i think) so they can’t have an AC, only fan ceiling. The host added a standing fan but it didn’t help much. We travelled during the rainy season but it’s still hot inside the room. There is no available hair dryers in the room, if you need, just ask the host. But the electricity is so weak, when i use hair dryer, it can’t handle so the electricity in the room is off.
The room is spacious with nice bed and furniture. The bathroom has an open ceiling (share the ceiling with the whole room), there is hot water. It’s upstair so be careful and watch your steps. The host is really nice, she has been doing her business about 14-15 years with her husband. They provide private tours with their own car, the husband drives. The house is in a small alley but totally safe and big enough for scooters.

AustraliaNothing - it was all great :)
The property was lovely and a fantastic way to experience the real Bali. The room looked out into a jungle and it was nice to sit out on the balcony of a morning. Made, Ketut and their family were so kind and went above and beyond to welcome us into their family and to make sure we enjoyed our stay. We did a day tour with Ketut which was great and we learnt so much! Highly recommend!

AustraliaI booked for 19 days so was looking for somewhere that balanced a good rating with value for money; I took a punt with Bali Asli Lodge and was well rewarded. The room was very clean and it was easy to stay cool in the heat with the big overhead fan. The floor of the shower is filled with large smooth pebbles which was definitely novel. The place was actually filled with nice small touches like this, which the photos don't really do justice to; the walkway in goes over a small pond with fish swimming in it, which was not the worst way to start days or end them. Bali Asli Lodge backs onto a small creek as well, with some foliage between you and it, so you get the sound of running water and bird/insect song from the balcony. Ketut, Made, Alit and Wayan are super friendly and helpful, and will sort you out for anything from morning coffee to your laundry; take Ketut up on the rice paddy walk option, you will see and learn a lot about the local area you would not otherwise. There was no bar fridge in the room, which might be an initial cause of consternation for travelers usually used to them, but cold drinks are kept in the fridge at reception and they will bring them down to you if you message them on whatsapp. Bali Asli Lodge is a 10 minute walk up a hill from the main strip, which can be a drag at the end of a day of walking around, but if you hire a scooter you can tear that up in about a minute. There is also a shortcut through the massive bamboo forest at the end of the laneway, which has monkeys playing around in the higher branches at certain times of the day. I saw fireflies in there on my last day as well.

The room is lovely, with a nice view into the nature. But the best part are the hosts. The entire family is just so nice, always checking in if everything is alright. We could do our laundry, rent a scooter and get transport to the airport for a very reasonable price.

AustraliaThe only thing for me was that the gym and yoga studio had me walking loads per day, but then I accepted Alit's scooter hire offer and that fixed that.
I loved this homestay lodge. Alit is extremely welcoming and warm hearted. As her family resides there, the lodge had a very safe, warm and community feel to the whole space, which I loved especially because I travelled solo. The room was very clean and has everything you need. The rooms backdrop is nature, so people can also enjoy sitting out on the patio relaxing. The most cutest doggies and the beautiful bright and friendly kids running around topped it off for me also. I highly recommend this homestay. There are also some awesome cafe restaurants within a very close walking distance which I thoroughly enjoyed. Some mornings, the lovely ladies provided me with coffee and breakfast which was delicious and a more convenient choice some mornings too.

United KingdomI booked connection to Gili Air through them, which wasn't a great service. On top of being more expensive than other options, the ferry was 2 hours late and leaked into the seating area. The company doesn't seem to have an online presence to leave a review. I understand this is common with ferries in this area, but was still a little disappointed.
Alit was a fantastic host. So helpful and very friendly. The room was as advertised, clean and had a beautiful view of the local foliage from the porch.

United StatesStaying here was a great decision—you are staying in a real family compound and they will take good care of you! Know that they can arrange tours, transfers and tickets, so it’s a one stop shop. Downtown Ubud is only a 15 minute walk, yet you feel like you’re staying in the jungle. There are roosters nearby, as anywhere in Ubud, so bring earplugs. Our favorite part was sitting on our back deck above the river to toast the coming evening.
