Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United KingdomIt's possible there are more modern and fancy villas around and it doesn't take many years for buildings to look tired in the tropics but the staff keep it clean and tidy and we like the homeliness of the place. I can see there are renovations around the reception area, not sure what they are for, but could be nice. I think it's tricky to make that a communal area since it has always seemed that their customers like to be self sufficient and generally keep to themselves (but I could be wrong!) The seating in the lounge was absolutely terrible. Right angled wooden seating, with cushions that just slide off, were very uncomfortable. It was just as well my companions couldn't make the trip so I ended up going to bed and watching streaming services in the evenings after returning from dinner. It was a shame to miss the outdoor living space in the balmy evenings. And it would have been very bad if we'd been the party we planned.
We've stayed at Emerald villas many times over several year so we know and love the location the landscaping. Since the villas have different owners, the individual comfort is pot luck. This one was better than some but not as good as others. Beds seem to be universally confortabke which is a must in holiday after a busy year! The staff were really helpful as ever, they dealt with a happy dog (all night) in a neighbouring villa and arranged for delivery of a lost item from another accommodation elsewhere in Bali with minimum fuss and cost. Lovely people.
