Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

LatviaGreat place and great host. I want to say the best words about the hosts - we almost didn't manage to come at all but they helped us out. The thing is that for a foreigner it's not really possible to buy a ferry ticket to Karimunjawa - the fast boat app accepts only local credit cards and local payment options and by the time we landed in Indonesia to try the only payment option that might work - paying at the Alfamart supermarket, the tickets were sold out. The other option is the slow boat but last year they also launched a web site - also there only local payment options accepted, and you can not count on getting a ticket at the port on the day anymore (I heard that even at the port you can't pay cash and only local cards accepted). The host fixed us tickets a night before once we contacted to explain our mysery with tickets! I always travel on my own but this is the place where their help is needed, so my advice - once you book your place, contact them to help you arrange the ferry tickets, too. You pay a little extra but will avoid troubles and time-wasting on a mission impossible. They also help to rent motorbikes or bikes, also organize snorkeling tour (that is a must-do thing on the island, as well as trying the late eve fish market!). We stayed in a bigger room above the bar (that sells beer and breakfast), but it seemed quiet as there was no activity past 10pm. The bed has mosquito net, makes beautiful bed canopy, like from a film set. Overall, the place is unique and special, highly recommended!

Very clean and well maintained property. The lodge with private bathroom with your own little area in the garden was superb. We really enjoyed staying here. The owners were super helpful with arranging transportation and trips.

An oasis on Karimunjawa! The huts were great and perfect for our 4-day stay. We hired scooters for getting around the island, and they organised an amazing snorkelling trip for us. Very helpful in suggesting places to visit or booking activities. Recommend to anyone looking to stay and explore the island.

NetherlandsFleur and Redi were being top class hosts. first they offered to reachedule my stay when I got stranded because the boats were full. then they provided good help and even more insights on the island. BasaBasi is a little oasis where it’s nice to come back to chill after a snorkling trip or a day beach hoping on the scooter.

We loved Basa Basi Lodge, the hut and facilities were beautiful and we got a lovely free breakfast every morning. Redy and Fleur were the best hosts, they made us feel at home and made sure we had everything we needed. We were able to rent scooters from them and also book a snorkelling tour which was amazing! NetherlandsWe would have liked it if there was an option to sit in a chair around the teepee. Also a 'kapstok', a little shelf for personal belongings would be nice, but can't blame them as they are young starters.
When you feel like you need to rest for a little while and do everything in a very slow pace, then book here. At Basa Basi we've had a very peaceful base to sleep, leave our personal belongings and to get to know the island better. Everything is well organized here. The very new family who runs this place, owns all our respect. With their 5 months old two little twins, they were so open and very easy to communicate with. Fleur and Redy are here to help you with all your needs. Super wonderful hosts. They are working together with their island based team to make your stay very comfortable. At this place you can rent a scooter, have a wonderful sleep in a quiet, dark(!) teepee, have your own cold shower and toilet. It's basic, but clean and unique. Every morning there's breakfast for you and after that you can explore the island. The island is very very quiet at the moment (nov 2022). Beaches are around the corner and if you are not scared to drive a scooter by yourself everything is easy reachable.

NetherlandsThe hospitable atmosphere started when the staff was waiting at the harbor to pick us up. When we arrived at the accommodation the owner was waiting for us with a cold drink (which was very nice after such a long journey), and the owner told us a bit about the accommodation and the island. The accommodation itself was, just like the restaurant area, very beautiful. It felt like a cosy camping spot, but with the luxury facilities. The owners offered to do a barbecue with them and friends of them, which was delicious and a good way to get to know more about the island. They also arranged a lot for us, such as motorbikes, snorkeling trips and transport. Overall a very unique experience which I would definitely recommend to friends and family.

GermanyWhat shall we say, this was easily one of our best stays in Java. The Lodge is beautiful, the staff is very kind and helpful and the island is a paradise. The private bathroom is very nice and clean, as is your private room. The breakfast is made freshly every morning and very yummy. Best pancakes always with fresh fruits. If you not only want to have a nice time in Karimunjawa but also want to get to know the culture and the people of the island, I can warmly advise you to stay at this beautiful lodge! If you want to do some kind of activity(snorkeling, eating seafood, daytrips…) or have any problem the hosts easily arrange everything and are always there for help. They also rent scooters. Mosquitos are no problem, the hosts will help you with this. Moreover, transport to and from the Harbour was arranged by the hosts.

GermanyWe slept in the family room during our stay. In addition to the exceptionally beautiful accommodation, especially the courtesy of the staff exceeded all expectations. You only need to express an idea or a request and you were offered support immediately. The room as well as the associated bathroom were super clean and we had our own drinking water dispenser. Even with the 'fight' of the mosquitoes, the staff had an immediate remedy. The Host Fu is awsome, you can ask him anything, be sure he knows the answer.
