How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

No opening of window in room, probably for the best as A/C is on most of the time in the room.
The room had A/C, staff was kind to let me check out late during a day feeling unwell, and staff help with instructions to what I was looking to visit.

The window is looking to the wall, old renovation
Good location,a lot of restaurants close to the hotel and a big market. Very helpfull staff. Laundry is near the reception. Good price

Wi-Fi in the room is bad, there were ants in bed and room. A mini fridge would be nice
For the price, the room is very good and clean. Also you have a desk, which is great if you need to work.

No hot water, light broken, tiny windows with blind that doesnt rise, no safe key. Noisy corridors and no water, new toilet roll or towels given. Staff were careless on when we requested to change rooms due to no hot water. A 30 minute walk to the beach, or 10- 15 mins to the main strip. If youre looking for a cheap stay, its does the job.
Good air conditioning and comfy beds. Cheap for what you get.

The place (I cant call it as hotel) is one of the dirtiest place I have ever seen,it was unbelievable they must be all blind not to see all those blood flakes in bed and all those long hair all over off course they are not blind they just dont care about ,I can never ever recomment this dirtiest place in the world and they are not the in expensive at all ,never ever again ......

staff knock on the door while shower. i did not hear it. the just open the door. i am standing naked and Said i Will come out to reception the staff didn’t close the door he kept asking questions and I got angry and had to scream at him to close the door. this guy did this 3 times . knock on the door one time and then just opens the door. i got so upset I wish next person will act and report him. the staff is useless. lack communication between each other and extremely rude . and I got robbed. phone cards , computer gone. i solved the problem with payment with one of the staff . they got copy of my working permit and passport , my phone number and he confirmed with the manager and everything so when I was going to check out the new staff the next day refuse to let me go to the bank to receive my new card. they were going to call the police . the wanted me to leave security deposit. i offer them my ice box that has expensive boat equipment. they didn’t accept that. they wanted my passport but my passport is in immigration In Labuan bajo as I am extending my work permit . they then wanted my to leave my laundry bag with dirty clothes. they delayed my check out and I missed my meeting with the bank and I didn’t get a new card. later they let me go. but it was already to late. probably one of the worse staff I have been dealing with over my 8’years on bali. embarrassing standing and talking with them infront of other guest .

Literally heard a group of rats running along the walls and ceiling. We could hear them squeaking and actually made me jump as it sounded like they were inside the room. Reception did absolutely nothing and just said sorry

Mosquitoes. Used bedsheets. Showerhead was trickling water only.
The price and the location good. It is 1.5km from the beach and near to great restaurants.

There was severe water damage and white mould growing in the room, extreme health hazard. The window cannot open so there's no air circulation at all. Rooms were also extremely small. If I could advise any traveller or tourist, spend the extra money to keep you from getting sick during your holiday.

the room had really bad damp, the aircon did not work very well at all the room was very hot - had to sleep with the door open to allow to cool down - the double bed was 2 single beds pushed together - the window didn’t shut properly/lock, every time we opened the door the window opened

Aircon didn't seem to cool the room, shower was cold and there was a bad sewage smell when flushing the toilet.
